Her Story Mother Gabe Causey,
affectionately known to many as “Aunt
Sug,” a spiritual, blessed and devoted woman who loved the Lord, completed her earthly transition to be with our Lord and Savior on Wednesday, February 21, 2018, at Tulane Hospital. Born into this life on January 29, 1921, one of seven children, to the late Will and Edna Magee. She was baptized at an early age at Jerusalem Baptist Church. She attended and graduated from Franklinton High School, where she was one of the best basketball players in school…You go girl! She met and married the one and only love of her life, the late Hubert Causey, on January 8, 1949, and shared a beautiful life and love for 60 years. After marrying, they moved to New Orleans, and joined the Mt. Kingdom Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Otha Simmons. While a member of Mt. Kingdom, she served as a Sunday School Teacher and Sunday School Superintendent, and was later appointed as a Deaconess and Mother of the church, by current Pastor, Darrick R. Johnson, where she served faithfully until her death. Gabe loved to sing and praise God. Her favorite song to sing with her husband was, “Guide Me, O Thou Great Jehovah,” which she sang until the Holy Spirit moved her. Hubert and Gabe was blessed to have raised 1 daughter, Norma Jean Causey. She was also blessed with 2 grandsons. She leaves to cherish her memories, her daughter Norma Jean Causey-Darby; son-in-law, Rev. Jerry Darby, Sr.; two grandsons, Jerry, Jr. and Jeremy Darby; two sisters-in-law, Nelda Harris and Dina Ray Magee of Houston, TX; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, Hubert Causey; parents, Will and Edna Magee; mother and father-in-law, Pearlie and Evie Causey; sisters and brothersin-law, Willie Mae (Eddie) Carson, Lillie Mae (Delos) Hart, Leola (Henry) Robertson; brothers and sisters-in-law, Charles (LaVern) Magee, Fleet and Rance Magee; sisters-in-law, Hynitha (Llord) Harris, Irma (Rev. I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

1 Corinthians 15:50-57 (NIV) 50 I
declare to you, brothers and sisters, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable. 51 Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed— 52 in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed. 53 For the perishable must clothe itself with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality. 54 When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: “Death has been swallowed up in victory.” [a] 55 “Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?”[b] 56 The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. 57 But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

We Had a Wonderful Grandma We had a wonderful grandmother, One who never really grew old; Her smile was made of sunshine, And her heart was solid gold; Her eyes were as bright as shining stars, And in her cheeks fair roses you see. We had a wonderful grandmother, And that’ s the way it will always be.
By Dolores M. Garcia If roses grow in heaven, Lord please pick a bunch for me, Place them in my Mother’s arms and tell her they’re from me. Tell her I love her and miss her, and when she turns to smile, place a kiss upon her cheek and hold her for a while. Because remembering her is easy, I do it every day, but there’s an ache within my heart that will never go away.

I Remember Lisa: I remember Leola, Lillie Mae & Gabe would talk for hours… What are they talking about?
Joe : I remember we worked together on France Road back in the day. Also, I remember when we ALL lived on Aubry and Rocheblave.
Cynthia: I remember she would tell me and Lisa “Y’all eat too much that’s why y’all are so big” Mabel: She told me “The only reason I’m making these dumplings for you is because you are pregnant with child (Jowanna)” Shoria: I remember aunt “Sug” couldn’t get a word in because I was doing all the talking. San: I remember aunt “Sug” would make Joe and I clean the kitchen after inviting the Pastor’s Deacons, Deaconess and Ushers over for Sunday dinner. Pat: I remember her saying; “my nieces can grow some hair.” Marla: I remember going to her house with “Mama (Leola) and Grandpa (Henry) right before the holidays and she had cakes lined up for everyone.
Jaedon: I remember going in that back room and she said “give me some sugar,” and I said “I didn’t have sugar” and she laughed. Dajeane: I remember when she used to hold on to the seat belt when Denise used to let me drive her home from church, she thought I couldn’t drive. Brenda: I remember when I told her I was moving to Donaldsonville, she said “don’t worry everything was going to be alright”
Puddin: I remember when I asked her if someone was our cousin, she replied “Unh-Unh, ain’t no kin.” Jowanna: I remember the chocolate cake.. I snuck a piece when I was a child and almost was caught because she and Uncle Hubert were in the next room.
Speaking of food, Who Remembers Her…
CHICKEN DUMPLINGS, GERMAN CHOCOLATE CAKE AND CARROT CAKE? Let’s cherish these memories and let Aunt Sug live in our hearts forever!
Memories By Jowanna Robertson Let’s celebrate the life and freedom for Aunt Sug is following the path of the Lord... And for some it may be difficult to express the loss of a loved one But I am confident that when she stood before our Maker... That there was a smile as she was greeted with... “My daughter, well done.” Biblically the number 9 is used to define “The Perfect Movement of God”...And the number 7 is significant for completion. Her faithfulness and labor is something to be applauded... Of her 97 years, we knew that her relationship with God was concrete
And as she may have transitioned and is no longer here physically on earth Let’s take a moment to reflect, and continue to remember the memories we have of her.
We may not always know why things happen, but as long as we have God we will be OK. My great-great aunt is with God and that makes me happy, because God is the greatest! By: Jaedon

That you all live a life pleasing to God and properly raise your seeds. Know that we will be with you, throughout each day and year And when you’re feeling down.. that we are standing near. I am with my siblings and we are looking from up above Always Remember, it’s God First, Family and Love.
