His Life story Glenn Joseph Green was born on January 12, 1948 to loving parents, Mildred and Melvin Green. He was the 2nd of 4 children growing up in the 7th Ward of New Orleans. He grew up in the Catholic church attending St. Peter Claver. He also received his early education in the Catholic school system attending Corpus Christi Catholic School and St. Augustine High School. Glenn graduated from Joseph S. Clark High School in 1965.

Glenn always the hard worker, was employed at Gus Mayer’s while attending high school.

After graduating he was drafted in the U. S. Army where he served in Viet Nam in the Artillery Unit. After returning home, Glenn began working with the U. S. Postal Service. He served as National Association of Letter Carriers former president of Branch 2730 and was also a former trustee. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 2004, after 34 years, and even after retirement, he was sought by former co-workers for work related advice. He also supported Unified Non-Profits of GNO.

Glenn married Lynn Hobbs Green on November 26, 2005 and together they created many fond memories, traveling and enjoying life. She remembers that he had a gift for always choosing the best greeting cards. No matter what the occasion, it’s words would always be perfect. He also went to great lengths to make sure that she knew he loved her. He was a fun-loving person who loved clowning around. If you were ever able to get one in on him, his last words would be “I’m gonna get you back” some of his friends said that he thought he was a comedian. He also often gave free advice to anyone he was around, whether you wanted it or not, but always in a loving way. He loved his family and enjoyed traveling, fishing, grilling and watching cowboy movies. He took great pride in teaching his two grandsons how to fish and “trash talk” about their catch. Just before falling ill, Glenn designed and did the build out on Total Looks Salon, working tirelessly to make sure it was a relaxing place to be pampered.

Glenn was a member of the Roman & Columbus Lodge, where he spent many hours fraternizing with his childhood friends. They hosted many cookouts and also gave back to the community by hosting a Christmas Toy drive and feeding needy families. He also donated his time for the barbecue for the children at Power House COG on the very last day of Vacation Bible School. Glenn was preceded in death by his grandparents, Charles Marquez, Sr. and Philomene SoubletMarquez, Joseph and Louise Young-Green; Father & Mother-in-law, Eddie & Marie Lewis; Alberta (Gram) Santiago; and a stepson, Jonathan Hobbs, Sr. Glenn leaves to cherish his memories his devoted wife, Lynn Hobbs-Green; his son, Glenn Green, Jr.; a step-son, Christopher Hobbs, Sr.; his parents, Melvin Joseph Green and Mildred Marquez Green; 2 sisters, Joy Green & Santa (Frank) Green-Harris; a brother, Kenneth (JoAnn) Boissiere, Sr.; a sisterin-law, Kim Hobbs; brother-in-law, Charles (Marquette) Hobbs; 5 grandchildren, Jonathan “JJ” Hobbs, Jr., Jourdan Hobbs, Christopher Hobbs, Jr., 4 aunts, Eva Antoine, Sylvia Green, Julia Martinez & Barbara Bowman; 3 Godchildren, Darrin Green, Tracy Morris & Niyah Harris; special family & friend, Chandra Welsh, Chad Welsh & Lionel Fascio, Jr., Vivian Larry and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, neighbors, club members and friends.

Precious Memories

Still With You By: Eric Benet

Heaven knows what you've been through So much pain Even though you can't see I'm not far away We always say if one of us Somehow went away We'd light a candle and say a prayer Know that love still remains Close your eyes, go to sleep Know my love is all around you Dream in peace, when you wake You will know I'm still with you Live your life from this day on And love again I know you'd do the same for me That's the way that loves is supposed to be Close your eyes, go to sleep Know my love is all around you Dream in peace, when you wake You will know I'm still with you When you feel those lonely teardrops Rolling down your face Just know my love watches over you Always, always Close your eyes, go to sleep Know my love is all around you Dream in peace, when you wake You will know I'm still with you I'm still with you

With Gratitude & Love “If you want happiness for an hour, take a nap, If you want happiness for a day go fishing, If you want happiness for a year or two inherit a fortune, but if you want happiness for a lifetime make the sacrifice to Help Somebody.” It is with this quote that I (as promised) extend heartfelt Gratitude on behalf of Glenn & I for the many acts of kindness shown during Glenn’s illness. I extend a Special Thank You, to Paul Sider, Miss Muriel, Aunt Loretta, Pastor Victor Simon and the McDonogh#35 Class of 1980 Alum for going above and beyond the call, sacrificing your time day or night.
