“Receiving the Call to Preach God’s Word” Isaiah 6:7-8
Sunday, September 25, 2016 * 2:00 P.M. HOST CHURCH Zion Travelers First Baptist Church 406 Adams Street * New Orleans, LA 70118
This is the day that the Lord has made, let everyone rejoice be glad in it. To my brothers and sisters of Zion Travelers First and Greater Bethlehem Baptist Churches, I thank God for this day of celebration where the Lord has placed me as under shepherd of his people. I know there is no doubt in my mind; the Lord has put me in the position to pastor His people. I’ve found out that everyone who is called to preach was not called to pastor. Sometimes we’re confused about what the Lord wants us to do and when he speaks to us through the Holy Spirit, we know without a doubt what he would have us to do. I’m just like Isaiah 6:7-8 verses, I’m glad I received His call to preach His Love through Jesus Christ. To My Church Families… I thank God for whatever you’ve done to make this anniversary program a success for me and my wife. Please keep Sandy and me in your prayers for kingdom building. To my wife… I thank God for my wife, Lillian “Sandy” Scales for her support. One who prays with me and for me, I am blessed. I pray God will continue to enable us to be equally yoked to work in his vineyard together. To Pastor Antoine Jacobs… I thank God for your presence. I pray that He continue to bless you and your family. Keep lifting up the name of Jesus! To All of Our Visitors… I thank God for your presence. May God continue to bless and keep you in His care! Please come again. I Remain Yours In Christ, Rev. Irvin Scales, Sr.
Remember only what you do for Christ will last!

Reverend Irvin Scales, Sr.
Pastor of Zion Travelers First Baptist Church & Greater Bethlehem Baptist Church
We have shared a number of things in this our nine years of marriage, but through it all God was with us and we learned even more how to love each other and together depend on the Lord. I thank God everyday for sending me a God Fearing man with such a kind heart, even to those who are not so kind to you. I am especially grateful for the understanding you have about me having to do my share in taking care of my parents. May the Lord continue to bless you as you do His work and know that I will always love you and be there for you. God bless you Honey to serve many more years in His vineyard. Love Always, Sandy
Pastor’s Anniversary Our Pastor Author: Judy Crowe
Have you ever walked in our Pastor’s shoes, And gone where his feet have trod? Have you ever thought of what he means to us, And on you knees, given thanks to God? Have you ever told him thank you, For being there, when ties are tough, For comforting words and fervent prayers When trials come and the storms of life are rough? He answers our calls in the middle of the night And tells us not to worry, for he will be there. He gives up his comfort of quiet rest And comes with prayers of comfort to share. Have you ever thought to say thank you Pastor, For preaching God’s word to help us understand, For all the times he has asked for things That will lend us a helping hand? When you pray, put him at the top of the list And ask the Lord to surround him with loving care, To give him strength and walk with him, To help him with the burdens that he must bear. Have you ever walked in our Pastor’s shoes, And gone where his feet have trod? Have you ever thought of what he means to us, And on you knees, given thanks to God?
“And we beseech you, brethren, to know them which labour among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you; And to esteem them very highly in love for their work’s sake.” 1 Thessalonians 5:12-13
“Let the elders that rule well be counted of double honor, especially they who labour in the word and doctrine.” 1 Timothy 5:17
