Off to London

Representing The United States Of America

Dancing together since age five, these butterflies thrilled the audience at twelve! Today, Paula Zapata, Indie Hurley, and Elizabeth Haeflinger are working hard to prepare for “The Fonteyn International Dance Competition” in London in October 2023. The Fonteyn, formerly the Genée, is the pinnacle of achievement for the Royal Academy of Dance candidates and is considered the Olympics of Ballet worldwide. While in London, these firm friends will spend a week training under-celebrated teachers and choreographers, dancing alongside qualified students worldwide! They will perform at His Majesty’s Theater in London’s West End!

International Dance Academy (IDA) is the ONLY school in South Florida that offers preparation and certification in the Royal Academy of Dance, whose patron for many decades was the late Queen Elizabeth II. Examinations start from age 6 with Primary and go through each year to Advanced II in their graduating year. IDA is proud of its 100% pass rate, with most dancers receiving the highest mark of distinction. These certificates are impressive additions to college and university applications. Only dancers with distinction for their Advanced II examination qualify to dance in “The Fonteyn." Usually, between 30-35 dancers qualify worldwide. This year, IDA has three who qualified and have been accepted! An incredible achievement indeed!

The management and readers of Our City Media wish you Bon Voyage as you dance your way to London, representing THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA!

International Dance Academy, founded in 2000, is located in the Broward Lakes Business Park at 825 Shotgun Road in Weston.
