Miramar High’s athletes use the weight room at every opportunity - between seasons, before or after classes. They are focused on becoming better – individually and as a team – and their efforts have earned the school numerous recognitions. Among the titles and wins this school year, Miramar High’s football team won the 2022 District Championship, made it to Regionals for the first time since 2013, and won the City of Miramar Mayor’s Cup. The cheerleading team also won their first state title in Miramar High history in February 2023, and the wrestling team made it to the Class 2A Boys Dual Team Championship.
The school also received an upgraded track. Track-and-field is a valuable sport for any high school as it not only promotes physical fitness and healthy competition, but it teaches valuable life skills, such as discipline, goal setting and perseverance.

Miramar High School is committed to building champions in and out of the classroom. The school’s athletics program got a recent boost thanks to the Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) SMART Bond Program, which is investing millions in renovations at the school, including a recently completed weight room and track.
“The weight room was old. Half of the equipment didn’t work, but now it is completely different since the renovation," said Varsity Football Coach A.J. Scott. The renovations were completed as part of the SMART Program’s over $23 million dollar investment at Miramar High School. The school was one of 30 to receive a new state-of-the-art weight room thanks to the SMART Bond Program.
The SMART Bond Program focuses on improving the learning environment in the areas of Safety, Music & Art, Athletics, Renovation, and Technology (SMART) at school campuses throughout BCPS.
At Miramar High School, the goal was to turn the weight room into a space fit for champions. The investment provided the school with updated equipment, fresh paint, flooring, a new sound system, new mirrors, better lighting, and much more.
