CORAL SPRINGS COMMISSION JANUARY MESSAGE

We want to wish all of our residents and businesses a very Happy New Year! As we usher in the new year, we are focused on the many projects planned for 2022. Next month, we join city leadership in kicking off strategic planning. The purpose is to identify our priorities, define new initiatives, and create a path to meeting the needs of our community. We are excited to continue our work in ensuring Coral Springs is the premier community in which to live, work, and raise a family.

The decisions we make are guided by input from our residents and business owners, the very people who elected us to hold office. Our community’s participation is paramount to our success as a city. This includes how federal funding is allocated. That is why we invite residents to join us for a community forum to discuss American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) program funding on Monday, January 24, 2022, at 6:30 p.m. in Commission Chambers. From community forums, public commission meetings, email communication, connecting through social media, and the My Coral Springs App, there are so many ways you can help guide our city’s direction and share comments or concerns.

We are excited to kick off the new year with a great roster of events! On January 15, 2022, at 9 a.m., families and students of all ages along with elected officials and community leaders, can participate in a game of chess at our Mayor’s Chess Challenge! And, on Saturday, January 29, 2022, we invite residents to our popular Bites-N-Sips event! The celebration will take place on the Great Lawn at City Hall from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. Visit our website for more information at CoralSprings.org/events.

Our city is proud to honor the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. this month. The Coral Springs Martin Luther King, Jr. Committee is now accepting nominations for the 2022 MLK Monument Award. Applicants can be an individual or organization in Coral Springs, who embodies the ideals of Dr. King. Visit our website for details and programs in honor of MLK at CoralSprings.org/MLK.

We are excited to announce that the Coral Springs Historical calendars are back and feature fun facts and photos about our city’s history. Residents can grab their free calendar either at City Hall or at City Hall in the Mall starting this month.

As a reminder, curbside recycling has resumed in Coral Springs! Our city’s recycling materials will be audited to determine contamination levels this month. The audit determines the cost of recycling, and we need residents to do their part to “Recycle Right.” For more information and a list of “Do’s and Don’ts” visit CoralSprings.org/ recycling.

Our next Commission Meeting will take place on January 5th and 19th at 6:30 p.m. Meetings are aired on CityTV, Blue Stream Channels 25, 25.7, 725 and on AT&T U-Verse channel 99. Meetings are also live streamed at CoralSprings.org/CityTV.
