November Message

CORAL SPRINGS COMMISION NOVEMBER MESSAGE

It is hard to believe the holiday season is almost upon us! As we head into November, it’s important to reflect on how far we have come as a city and nation since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. With the Thanksgiving holiday fast approaching, we focus our attention on gratitude and appreciation. We are truly thankful and honored to serve the residents and businesses of this incredible city. Our commitment to ensuring Coral Springs remains the premier city in which to live, work and raise a family requires us to make difficult decisions – ones that are made with the city’s long-term future and success as our guide.

We are excited to announce curbside recycling for single-family and low-density homes in Coral Springs has resumed! When the global market for recycling dramatically declined, our city was faced with an overage of nearly $300,000 in fees to continue recycling due to contamination. This decision was made with the intent to resume recycling once the market for recycled materials improved. Our continued commitment to making recycling available and affordable is contingent upon our residents ensuring that they ‘Recycle Right.’ As you celebrate Thanksgiving gatherings and future holidays events, dispose of clean recyclables in the blue cart. This includes plastics #1 & 2, broken down cardboard, metal and aluminum cans, mixed paper, and glass. Learn more by visiting, www.coralsprings. org/recycle.

The Coral Springs Police Department, in partnership with SafeGuard Document Destruction, are hosting their popular Shred-aThon event for city residents at the Sportsplex (2575 Sportsplex Drive) on November 6 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. This is a great way to discard information-sensitive documents to prevent identity theft. For more information, visit www.coralsprings.org/events.

Get into the fall spirit with the city’s popular Bites-N-Sips event series. On Friday, November 5 from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. enjoy the “Flavors of Fall” with harvest-inspired treats from local food trucks and vendors. Adult beverages will also be available for purchase. Parking is free at the City Hall garage. For more information, visit www.CoralSprings.org/bitesnsips

To honor of our military heroes, their sacrifices and service, on November 11 the Veterans Coalition of Coral Springs, in partnership with the City of Coral Springs, will honor the men and women of the armed forces with a special Veterans Day Ceremony. The event starts at 10:45 a.m. at Veterans Park located at 8601 Royal Palm Boulevard. As our ongoing commitment to honoring veterans for their service and sacrifice, we launched the Hometown Heroes Banner program. If you would like to recognize a resident who served, or currently serves, in our nation’s armed forces, visit www.coralsprings. org/heroes.

Our November Commission Meetings will take place virtually on Wednesday, the 3rd and 17th at 6:30 p.m. Meetings are aired on CityTV, Blue Stream Channels 25, 25.7, 725 and on AT&T U-Verse channel 99.
