Black History Month Will Be Celebrated in Full Color

After a hiatus last year due to the nature of the pandemic, the Afro Carib Festival is back after its inaugural year in 2020 and it’s more colorful than ever. The anticipated event is a combined celebration of Black History Month and Reggae Month. The signature event concludes the month-long celebration and will be hosted by Commissioner Alexandra P. Davis.
“Once again, we are so excited to be hosting the Afro Carib Festival right here in Miramar. We are putting together an exceptional artist lineup and fusing the different genres of music from the African Diaspora, and we hope Miramar residents and visitors from all over can come out to enjoy great music at a gorgeous venue,” exclaimed Commissioner
Davis. Previous Headliners included reggae sensation, Capleton,
Afrobeat artist Stonebwoy from
Ghana and Amara La Negra.
They were joined by Julien
Believe and Jay Shep from the Bahamas, gospel-reggae singer, Soné and the Gutta
Twins from Jamaica. Miramar’s own Tone C also performed. The event was hosted by Yvette Marshall and Lance-O of Kulcha Shok Muzik with DJ Mikey Mike. This year, contemporary reggae singer and Grammy Award nominee, Protégé will take the stage among many other talented artists.
“The Afro-Carib event is intended to promote diversity through entertainment by providing an array of different genres and spark attention about all that the City of Miramar has to offer,” said Elizabeth Valera, Parks and Recreation Director.
Besides a plethora of live entertainment, the festivities will include a taste of Afro-Caribbean flavors with offerings of multicultural cuisine, cultural items for sale by local vendors, and so much more.

▸Afro Carib Festival is scheduled for Saturday, February 26, 2022, from 7 pm-11 pm at the Amphitheater at Miramar Regional Park, 16801 Miramar Parkway. Gates open at 6 pm. ▸ Tickets start at $15 and will be available on January 1, 2022, via
