Our Philosophy

Choosing a new preschool for your little one can be a daunting task. With countless options available at your finger-tips, it’s easy to feel bombarded with information and confused about the best option for your family. As parents, there are certain criteria you look for when choosing an early-childhood educational facility including how the teachers interact with children, how teachers handle punishment, the classroom environment, and most importantly—the academics.

At Small World Montessori Miramar, we firmly stand by our philosophy: “We measure our success by the success of each individual child.” We utilize the Montessori Method by encouraging our students to pursue their curiosities through an individualized learning approach. Parents can take comfort in knowing that their child is in an environment that prioritizes the core Montessori values of respect for child, the sensitive stages of development, an age-appropriate prepared environment, and child-guided learning based on their own interests. Maria Montessori believed that “imagination does not become great until human beings, given the courage and strength, use it to create.” It is our belief that every child has unique gifts and talents which can be fostered by a teacher’s encouragement to let their students’ imagination take flight.

A Firm Foundation for your Child

According to the American Montessori Society, “A growing body of research comparing Montessori students to those in traditional schools suggests that in academic subjects, Montessori students perform as well as or better—academically and socially—than their nonMontessori peers.” In the classroom at Small World Montessori, each lesson serves a specific purpose— whether it be to master refinement of the senses, grace and courtesy, movement, expressive language, reading, writing or mathematics. The classroom is arranged in a way that promotes each child’s independence, as they are able to access all materials on their own. The curriculum includes individual, as well as group activities which promote the proper development of leadership and inter-personal social skills. Additionally, we believe that every child should be immersed in other cultures, and we are dedicated to educating our students about various walks of life. As part of the core curriculum, students are able to learn about geography, where they go from continent-to-continent learning about each country and its people. We also celebrate multi-cultural holidays including Hispanic Heritage Month, Diwali, the Lunar New Year, Black History Month, and Asian Pacific Heritage Month. These celebrations help solidify the foundation of a well-rounded child.

As parents, you never want to see your child struggle to develop; however, it is becoming more and more common for children coming out of quarantine to have difficulties with socialization. At Small World Montessori, we have the tools not only to help your child develop core social skills, but with our individualized learning approach, we see our students thrive. Our school utilizes classrooms with mixed ages, which allows the older children to act as nurturing guides to the younger students.

In addition to fostering social development, we also provide a healthy environment for all children by performing daily sanitization of our campus. Through careful vigilance, we have successfully avoided any cases of COVID-19 linked to our facility for over a year. It is our hope that we can welcome new families to our school with the confidence that Small World Montessori is the best option for your child.
