The City of Plantation’s first entry into the Lexus Corporate Run drew a larger-than-expected crowd: 64 employees and their relatives traversed the 5K distance around the FloridaLive Center.

An annual evening 5K (3.1-mile) run gathering companies from across Broward County first began about three decades ago. But March 30 was the first time the City of Plantation organized a team.
“It’s a way to promote health and give employees from across all employers a chance to know each other,” said Mayor Nick Sortal, who said he expected only about 20 signups for the first foray.
The city’s Human Resources Department helped attract participants – about half of whom were walkers – by offering points toward the fitness incentive program.
Glendon Hall, Plantation’s redevelopment administrator, served as team captain.
The event drew about 4,362 participants
