National Night Out

National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live. National Night Out enhances the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement while bringing back a true sense of community. Furthermore, it provides a great opportunity to bring police and neighbors together under positive circumstances. This year’s event will be held at Pine Island Park with activities for the entire community, including bounce houses, police demonstrations, music, and even dunk a cop! 5:00 pm - 9:00 pm. Nature Pop®! Back 2 School Weekend

Sean Kenney’s Nature POP®! is inspired by the pop art movement, Sean’s work on Nature POP! plays on that movement’s principles by blurring the boundaries between austere and the everyday and draws from a belief that everything is interconnected. Guests will enjoy entertainment by DJ Anarchy on Saturday and the Florida Children’s Theatre Circus Spectacular, on Sunday, kids’ activities, receive Back 2 School giveaways* courtesy of Memorial Hospital, and play larger-than-life board games on the Wray Lawn. Hosted at Flamingo Gardens in Davie from 9:30 am - 5:30 pm.

Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event

City of Plantation and Sunrise residents are invited to dispose of household hazardous waste, free of charge with proof of residency. Convenient drive-thru services where staff will unload your hazardous waste; you are encouraged to remain in your vehicle. We ask that you keep the hazardous waste products in their original containers, or to label them clearly. All lids must be sealed tightly and leaking containers should be placed in a large plastic container. 9:00 am -

Flamingo Gardens Orchid Society Meeting

Listen to "The Orchids of the Catasetum Alliance and How to Grow Them" presented by Olivier Turina. Olivier fell in love with orchids at the 2013 Ft. Lauderdale Orchid Show & it has become his passion ever since. He is currently on the board of the Fort Lauderdale Orchid Society & has a YouTube channel called "Orchid House" where he shares a few tips on growing some orchids. Join us at Flamingo Gardens, Mary N Porter Learning Center. Doors open at 7:00 pm.

Free Ballet Class

International Dance Academy is hosting an open house for ballet dancers aged three years to professional. Dancers ages 10 and under are invited to a free session at 1:00 pm. Wheelabrator Waste Drop off The City of Plantation, in conjunction with Wheelabrator, is offering all residents the opportunity to dispose of Yard Waste, Furniture, White Goods, Household Hazardous Waste, and Electronics at Wheelabrator, 4400 S. State Road 7 from 8:00 am - 3:00 pm. Scan QR code for a full list of accepted items to dispose of.

There is something for everyone! Bring the kids and the pup but make sure to have masks & maintain social distancing. Fresh produce, organically grown veggies, fresh fruit, herb’s, tasty fresh breads, chocolate croissants, raw honey from local farmers, gourmet jams, fried doughnuts, pickles, cookies, coffee’s, homemade hummus, gourmet cheese, guacamole dips, plants and orchids, there’s something here for everyone.
