The Arts Council of Greater Weston, in cooperation with the City of Weston, held its 15h Annual Student Artist Showcase reception recognizing our talented student artists and their dedicated teachers at the Cypress Bay High School auditorium.

Director of the Student Artist Showcase Gryssele Machicote noted the decorated stage, event programs, and the “Grab and Go”

3rd Place 9th Grade Mariana Bordin Salik treats added to the celebration of our talented students. Again this year, Covid protocols kept us from being at the Weston Branch Library where the exhibit hung for the month of April. All the artwork can be seen on the Arts Council Flickr album by going to 1weston.com.”

This year 9 schools participated submitting a total of 199 works of art. Lifrancis Rojas, a Board member of the Arts Council and Weston Art Guild, coordinated the judging of the high school submissions with Lynda Sauls, WAG President, Tita Millan, and Apia Art (Carolina Garcia). The high school's three placement categories earned cash prizes.

The artists’ smiles were bright as they received a souvenir photo of their artwork, recognition certificate, and ribbon. Their families were filled with pride as they took family photos next to our Step and Repeat backdrop and at the student-volunteer created SAS 2022 Selfie boards

President Laura Dobrzanski stated, “We are delighted that Commissioners Mead, Eddy, MolinaMacfie joined us for the recognition ceremony and welcomed City Manager Don Decker and Kara Petty, City of Weston Director of Parks and Recreation, who stopped by. Staff from the City Pam Solomon, City of Weston Assistant Director of Communications, Annalisa Walker, City of Weston Special Events Manager, and Bryan Beard, City of Weston Recreation Supervisor, also attended and assisted in more ways than one. They were instrumental to our ceremony's success. We are lucky to be partnered with a City that recognizes the importance of the Arts. Congratulations to all the students, their families, the participating schools, and their art teachers. We are fortunate to have schools supporting the Arts in our community. The Arts are critical and the education emphasis is now STEAM, with Arts added to the core
