The Weston Music Society is delighted to announce its Summer Pops Concert to be held on Saturday evening, July 30th, at the Bonaventure Town Center Club, 16690 Saddle Club Road, at 7:00 pm. Refreshments will be served.
An eclectic, exciting program is planned. Diane Marett, WMS Vice President for Events, says, “We are delighted to bring a special program like this that will appeal to a variety of musical tastes.” Performers will include:
Jose Veliz graduated in 2019 from the Frost School of Music, University of Miami, and is working on a graduate degree at FIU. Jose has been awarded a grant from the Knight Foundation and has worked with the Broward Cultural Division on various projects in Broward County. Jose has performed for our FB Live concerts as well as our Member Appreciation Event showcasing his piano skills. He has planned an interactive program for us that is sure to please.
Juan Diego Molina, a classical pianist, is 14 years old. He won 2nd place at the New York Piano Solo Competition at Carnegie Hall and was invited to perform the next day to close out the competition at Lincoln Center. He delighted audiences at Summerfest, where he played during the reception, impressing the international musicians as well. His technique and interpretation are well beyond his years.
Samuel Palleija is a young violinist who has been studying violin for 8 years. He has been a member of the Florida Youth Orchestra for 5 years and a part of their FYO string quartet for the most advanced musicians. He attended the prestigious Eastern Music Festival last summer. He is also a member of a small Baroque string ensemble, Camerata du Magdalena, which raises money to provide meals for the homeless in Broward County.
Valentina Shelton is a vocalist, pianist, and songwriter from Los Angeles. She started with a classical background in both piano and voice. She is a recent graduate with a vocal jazz degree from Frost School of Music, University of Miami, while also having studied piano. She is a recipient of two Downbeat Awards, both for jazz vocal ensemble and for Outstanding Soloist in Voice and Piano in the Pops/Rock/Blues category. Her program will include offerings from the American Songbook.
Gina Catone, WMS President, invites our community to enjoy these outstanding young talents. “I am looking forward to showcasing such a wonderful program. It will be a fabulous evening at the Bonaventure Town Center Club.” ▸ Tickets, $15 for adults and $10 for students, are available on the WMS website, www.westonmusicsociety.org, and at
