Take your first step toward better health and help dozens of local charities at the same time! The Rotary Club of Weston’s 24th annual Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital Run for Tomorrow will hit the road on Sunday, December 5th. The event features a 5K and Half Marathon, along with the Commission Cup 1-Mile Health Walk, followed by the Fitness and Health Festival.

Not only is this the largest health and wellness event in Weston, and the community’s largest sanctioned run, the Run for Tomorrow is Weston Rotary’s primary charity fundraiser. Over the past two decades, the run has generated more than $1 million for local charities including Harvest Drive, Hope Outreach, LifeNet4Families, Sandy Nininger Jr. State Veterans’ Nursing Home and Susan B. Anthony Recovery Center.

The Weston schools are also a huge beneficiary of this event. Local schools compete for the coveted Commission Cup trophy, which will be presented to the school with the highest participation rate. Every elementary school that has at 10% of its kids participate will receive a $1,000 cash prize from the Rotary Club of Weston.

Weston’s largest annual health festival will take place immediately after the races. It will feature live music along with a variety of interactive booths. Festival participants will collect minutes towards the Get Fit Challenge visiting the activity booths at the Festival, while earning chances to win a Grand Prize in the raffle at the end of the Festival day. Participate in more activities to increase your chances of winning (free, but registration required). Earn additional minutes towards the 1 Million Minutes Get Fit Challenge by participating in the Commission Cup 1 Mile Walk.

The Rotary Club of Weston’s Run for Tomorrow takes place at Cypress Bay High School on December 5th. The half marathon starts at 6:20 am sharp, followed by the 5K at 7:30 am. The 1-Mile Family Health Walk begins at 9 am. ▸ For more information or to register for any of the 24nd annual Rotary Run for Tomorrow events visit www.westonrotaryrun.com
