ABOUT ATLANTA LGBTQ Atlanta Atlanta is the South’s most metropolitan city. In fact, over half its residents arrived from somewhere else. Like the city itself, “Hotlanta” attracts men and women from around the South who come here to live free. Atlanta is the epicenter of the LGBTQ South. Home to a vibrant gay community, Atlanta boasts numerous must visit establishments and can’t-miss events. With such a rich culture filled with festivals, arts and fine dining, it’s easy to see why “The Advocate” dubbed Atlanta as America’s “gayest city” of 2010. In fact, Atlanta is often referred to as the gay capital of the South. The gay bars and clubs are a bit spread out, but most cluster around the Midtown area. You’ll need a car, so be sure to find a designated driver and hit this friendly and fun gay scene. Nightlife isn’t all Atlanta has to offer. With a flare for the arts, Atlanta offers visitors and residents a wide selection of museums, classical music venues and a thriving theatre scene.
