Welcome to our second annual Outcross Production sale. We are excited for this year’s offering. We have searched all over for what we feel are some of the finest genetics in the business. Some of these bulls come from some very hard to find genetics. We hope you will carefully study these and find that these are some of the finest cattle in the country. With sires the likes of Jehu, Backwater Jack, Aztec, Southern Comfort and others you will find some real head turners here.

We hope you will take a look at the whole picture in the scheme of things. We feel that calving ease is certainly important, but we feel that it is only one piece of the puzzle. Don’t let the birthweights scare you away. These are accurate, not estimates. We also had a hard winter last year following a severe drought. Because of this we had very little grass hay and a lot of alfalfa. This contributed to a slightly higher birthweight straight through. It has been proven that a larger calf does better from birth straight through weaning and on through finish. Overall health is better as well as overall gain.

There is no doubt there are plenty of challenges and uncertainties in the cattle business right now. However, overall cattle numbers are at levels not seen since the early 1950s. Also with cull prices at historically high levels, now is the time to cull the old bulls and replace them with fresh genetics.

As you will notice we have some color in these bulls this year. These are still purebred Charolais cattle. However, they are red factor Charolais. We feel like this will help with marketing calves that will be darker hided yet still have the great crossbred characteristics that are so valuable. As we dove into this red factor with both feet, we feel that it has definitely met and exceeded our goals. We are very excited to use some of these red factor calves on our black commercial cows this year. We feel that it will certainly make a very marketable product.

Bulls will be fertility and Tric tested prior to the sale. If an unfortunate problem arises, please notify us immediately. We will work to provide a satisfactory replacement or a credit to will be available for next year’s bull sale minus the salvage price. All Charolais bulls taken home sale day will receive a $50 credit. Free shipping within the state of Utah. If arrangements haven’t been made by March 20th for delivery, a $5 per head, per day yardage fee will be incurred. Any bull fed after March 20th must be insured and yardage will be $5 per head, per day.
