The Lilburn Business Association (LBA) was established in 1992 as a way to bring local business owners together to support one another and the Lilburn community. Sandra Waldrop, PhD, has been on the Board since 2013 and president since 2019.

The mission of LBA is to support the continuous growth of business in Lilburn and in the surrounding communities. Its vision is to create a prosperous local economy, supported by strong alliances and engagement between thriving local business communities that value LBA as a cornerstone of their success.

Businesses do not have to reside in the Lilburn community to be part of LBA. However, that’s typically the case. LBA holds two business meetings per month – a breakfast gathering on the first Friday and lunch-hour session on the third Tuesday of each month. A monthly After-Hours event was recently added and is typically held on the last Monday of each month. Meeting locations are announced with each meeting’s details.

Businesses that become part of LBA receive many perks and benefits including being listed in the LBA directory, receiving discounts on LBA events, and member pricing at Gwinnett Chamber events. Additionally, one or two businesses are profiled monthly as a Business Spotlight. These business owners are allowed five-minute presentations at monthly meetings to introduce their services, have a short video interview produced, and receive shout outs on social media to help expand awareness of their brands. The LBA also lists announcements for local businesses, such as awards received or employment opportunities.

LBA was a nominee for the Gwinnett Chamber Small Business Awards for 2020 and 2021 and is constantly looking for ways to enhance and support the community. Community support has included using catering from the Culinary Arts students at Berkmar High School, funding the Lilburn Middle School (LMS) Orchestra’s trip to a competition, providing gift cards for use by the Care Team at LMS, providing speakers for Career Day at local schools, providing personal dictionaries for 3rd grade students as part of the Lilburn Woman’s Club Dictionary Project literacy effort, as well as donating to local non-profit groups such as the Grace Note Foundation.

Meeting programs have included interviews of local successful businesses owners, resources for business owners such as the Gwinnett Entrepreneurship Center, information on hiring from the disability community, discussions of books on business topics, and informational presentations from government leaders on local development around Lilburn.

A recent member to LBA has volunteered his videographer skills to create short promotional videos for the members. These videos are shared on the websites and social media pages of both the members and LBA.

Visitors are always welcome. Fundamentally, LBA is about networking and building relationships, and is always looking for business leaders who want to become more involved in the organization and the community.
