ECOBANK HEADQUARTER DESIGN - BURKINA FASO

Our design is part of a technical and financial proposal for an international RFP from Ecobank. Ecobank is one of the largest banks in Africa. It was created under the name “Ecobank Transnational Incorporated (ETI)” in 1985. The project is a schematic design proposition for the next Ecobank headquarters in Burkina Faso.

We proposed an 8-story building receiving the various departments of the head office, as well as, a reception and agency on the ground floor. There is also a basement level for parking, as well as, an annex building that contain staff entrance gates, technical rooms, a restaurant, a daycare center, a gym, etc...

Our architectural parti is about bringing nature and sustainability to the office spaces while respecting the functional complexity and constraints that come with a major bank. Our design theme was the celebration of nature both outside and inside. At the heart of this green system, we have a 17x17 open central atrium that guides natural light through the entire building.

We wanted our design to reflect the local culture. The building is draped in a traditional adornment with triangular patterns reminiscent of the “Zimboré”. This motif will be taken up in several variations in the interior fittings (ceilings and decorative walls), and in the exterior fittings (Facades and roof screens).
