Durham Dales Sports began in 2017 when four mums met for a run about on Wolsingham 3G with makeshift hockey sticks.

Over the following weeks more people came along and the club was founded. The club began with hockey, but soon after offered kinball, and from last year started with Walking Hockey and Walking Netball. With the Walking Hockey and Walking Netball the age ranges are from 18 to 80, proving that you are never too old!

They offer Adults Hockey session on a Sunday afternoon, Walking Netball on a Monday evening and Walking Hockey and Family Hockey on a Wednesday evening and Kinball for juniors on a Friday evening. Everyone is super friendly and helpful in a relaxed atmosphere. They hold their sessions at Wolsingham Sports Centre, the Walking Netball and Kinball in the sports hall and the hockey sessions on the 3G pitch outside.

The group have received funding over the years from a variety of sources, most recently from the 2D Legacy fund to help with the court hire costs for Hockey and Kinball. However, they are always open to other sources of funding so that they can continue to offer sports for the people of the dales and the wider community.

All sessions are a way of keeping fit and learning or brushing up on skills whilst still being able to have a laugh and giggle along the way, so if you fancy giving it a go, come along and find out for yourself.
