Funny Girl’s Leading Man on Broadway Comes to The Parker

Ramin Karimloo, currently starring as Nicky Arnstein opposite Lea Michele in the smash hit Broadway revival of Funny Girl, joins Seth Rudetsky in The Broadway Concert Series at The Parker presented by Mark Cortale on February 26, 2023.

When comparing him to the real-life Arnstein whom Karimloo portrays, The New York Times gushed, “That Arnstein wasn’t remotely gorgeous, and Karimloo totally is, we can allow. Karimloo also sings beautifully and, to the extent the new book tries to beef up the role, he’s got the beef to do it.”

Becoming one of Broadway’s top leading men, Karimloo made an impression from the start having scored a Tony® nomination for Best Actor in a Musical for his Broadway debut as Valjean in the 2014 revival of Les Misérables. Since then, he performed in the world premiere of The Prince of Broadway, directed by the late Hal Prince, and originated the role of Gleb Vaganov in the Broadway premiere of Anastasia

Karimloo started out and made his name in some of the West End’s most enduring productions, most notably Phantom of the Opera and Les Misérables. He then originated the role of the Phantom in Phantom of the Opera sequel Love Never Dies in 2010.

Other noteworthy performances include Che in Evita (Vancouver and Japan), Tom in the U.K. premier of Murder Ballad (London), Judas in Jesus Christ Superstar

(Japan), Anatoly in Chess (Kennedy Center and Japan) and Archibald Craven in The Secret Garden (Lincoln Center).

He joins Rudetsky in the series’ unique format that creates a seamless mix of intimate behind-the-scenes stories prompted by Rudetsky’s insightful, funny, and revealing questions and the music from the artists’ stellar careers.

Often called “The Mayor of Broadway,” Rudetsky is the afternoon deejay on the SiriusXM Broadway channel as well as the host of Seth Speaks. He spent many years on Broadway as a pianist and/or conductor on shows like Les Miz, Ragtime and Phantom of The Opera as well as two years as a comedy writer on The Rosie O’Donnell Show (three Emmy nominations with his co-writers) which led to him writing two opening numbers for the Tony Awards.

As an actor, Rudetsky performed his show, Deconstructing Broadway in London, Boston (Irne award) and L.A. He co-wrote and co-starred in Disaster! on Broadway which was licensed by Music Theater International and is being performed around the country.

With his husband James Wesley, Rudetsky co-produced the “What The World Needs Now Is Love” recording with Broadway Records featuring, among others, Idina Menzel, Audra MacDonald, and Lin-Manuel Miranda to help the victims and families of the Orlando Pulse Nightclub shooting.

Experience three intimate evenings of incredible music and hilarious conversations hosted by Seth Rudetsky, whom The New York Times dubbed “The Mayor of Broadway,” featuring Tony, Olivier and Drama Desk Award Winners.
