It’s always a treat to get back on the mountain bike when the mercury begins to rise in the springtime. Several days of sunshine and temperatures in the 50s, plus some brisk winds, will dry out our fabulous trails – at least to start the season – and you can get out and enjoy the wonderful feeling of cruising down singletracks through beautiful countryside with your riding buddies. There’s two rides in the Owyhee Canyonlands that should be on everyone’s list for spring rides – Wilson Creek Northwest Passage, a 16-mile singletrack delight, south of Nampa, and Back of Beyond Three Fingers Loop, a 22-mile ride on the Oregon side that I discovered as part of my award-winning hiking, biking and camping guide, The Owyhee Canyonlands – An Outdoor Adventure Guide.
