Retreat to a cottage by the lake Escaping to the lakeside or wilderness is a national way of relaxation. Half a million cottages ensure there’s a quiet retreat for every taste. Every municipality has a hiking route or nature trail – most have several.

Discover the roots of sauna Sauna is a place to get in tune with your thoughts, soften your tensed-up muscles and relax. It’s as much about clearing the mind as it is about cleaning the body. Smoke saunas, electrical saunas, wood-burning saunas – you name it, we’ve got it!

Witness the midsummer nights As the waves on the lake finally settle, canoe towards the spectacular sunset – except that, during Midsummer, the sun never sets in Finland. Experience the magical moment when the sun goes down and comes right back up again.

Experience the wilderness Authentic wilderness areas can be found along the eastern border and in Lapland. You can hike and engage in a variety of activities far from the bustling urban areas, and truly enjoy the silence. All this with the appropriate services, good food and the opportunity to bathe in a sauna.

Pick berries and mushrooms From Finnish salmon and trout to duck and snow grouse, from reindeer and elk to blueberries and cloudberries; it’s all wild and delicious – and good for you.

Finns The quiet and honest people. Summer is the time for letting loose and enjoying yourself, and the most tight-lipped of Finns may suddenly start talking – enough to utter a few words at least. Meet with the locals on market places and at events.

Product manuals We have published three new product manuals: hiking, canoeing and cycling manuals. They contain the best routes and areas for cycling, hiking or canoeing in Finland. We have supplemented the range with new, never-before-experienced Finnish locations. Locations that have been well-known and popular among Finns for decades. You can explore the beautiful coast, the dazzling Finnish Lakeland, the oldgrowth forests along the eastern border, and the Lapland of fells and breathtaking wilderness. We have compiled travel suggestions and included in them our best tips, which have all been tried and tested. The selection includes guided tours, which include everything from meals in natural locations to transportation.

Canoeing product manual In the coastal archipelagos, even the most inexperienced canoeists can enjoy the activity under the supervision of a guide, camp overnight in the islands and cook meals on an open fire. In the Lake Saimaa area, you can also rent a canoe and equipment, with plenty of space to spare. If you like, you can spend more than a week on the lake.
