QEGS Sixth Form sponsors junior football team

QEGS Sixth Form are delighted to announce the sponsorship of Mill Hill Junior FC’s under-16 team. The sponsorship, which will last for two seasons, is the first of its kind for the Sixth Form and strengthens the relationship between the large local grassroots club and the A level provider. Brave Ben is a cut above!

Ben Sykes Hodkinson, a Year 3 pupil in QEGS’ Primary Phase, has raised £110 for the Little Princess Trust by having his ‘lockdown locks’ cut and donated to the charity. Read more

Mr Aslam raises over £6,000 in his very own ‘London Marathon’

Primary Phase Teaching Assistant at QEGS, Raja Aslam, has completed his goal of running a marathon and raised over £6,000 for the Penny Appeal. Mr Aslam ran the 26.2 miles in October around Blackburn and the surrounding areas, after the event in London was cancelled earlier this year. Read more

House Cross Country returns as winners named for 2020/2021 academic year Following the current measures that are in place around school, QEGS’ PE department have successfully held the 2020/2021 House Cross Country races for pupils in Year 7-10. Read more

Mr Richard Marshall, former Head of Sixth Form, passes away We have been informed of the sad passing of a former member of staff and Head of Sixth Form, Richard Marshall, at the age of 48. Richard was at school from 1998 until 2006, when he left to take up the position of Head at Bury Grammar School before moving to Ashville College, Harrogate as Head three years ago. Read more

Children with Cancer UK thanks QEGS for ‘1 mile’ donations Following the ‘1 mile challenge’ held in July 2020, QEGS has received a certificate and official recognition for its donation to Children with Cancer UK. The charity received £500 thanks to the generosity of parents, carers, pupils, students and staff. Read more

Another literary success for former QEGS pupil and teacher Ian Thomson Ian Thomson was at QEGS as a pupil from 1961 to 1968, returning as a teacher for a spell some years later. Having retired from teaching Ian is now a successful author and has recently had his latest book ‘Northern Elements’ published.
