Business (GCSE)
What does the subject offer?
GCSE Business offers students the opportunity to explore real business issues and how businesses work. The units studied provide opportunities to explore theories and concepts by relating these to events in the real world. GCSE Business also gives students an understanding of the world around them and equips them with important knowledge that is required beyond school. The knowledge and skills gained from this specification will provide the students with a firm foundation for further study in a variety of different areas.
Course details:
Students will follow the AQA specification. There is only one tier of entry ranging from grade 9 – 1.
Course Content:
This is a two year course studying the following 6 units of work. 1.Business in the Real World, 2.Influences on Business, 3.Business Operations, 4. Human Resources, 5.Marketing and 6.Finance.
Assessment by examination board: There are 2 examinations at the end of Year 11. Paper 1 examines Unit 1,2,3 and 4 and paper 2 examines Unit 1,2,5 and 6.
Career Opportunities:
GCSE Business leads to many different career paths including: Finance, Economics, Event Management, Marketing, Insurance broker, Management consultant and many others.
