Your taste buds will be tantalized at the Second Annual Chili Cook Off on October 10th. It’s a time to enjoy sampling your neighbor’s tasty offerings and vote for the following: Best Chili, Best Name, Most Creative Ingredients, and Best Decorated Booth. Wonder who will win the coveted titles for 2018? Join in the excitement and vote for your favorites. The Paws for a Cause Dog Parade & Costume Contest on October 30th is a real Vitalia tradition! Dress your pet up in his or her amazing costume to compete as all entries and their proud owners take to the event lawn at the Captiva Club to begin their parade. Spectators are welcome to cheer on your favorites!
Want to dress up for Halloween? Then the Halloween Costume Party on October 31st is where you’ll need to be. If this year is anything like last year, your neighbors will amaze you with their inventive and creative outfits. Comedy Night is coming on November 4th. Rob Magnotti is an amazing impressionist and a multi-talented comedian who intermixes his stand-up comedy with a vast variety of celebrity impressions. He completely transforms into Al Pacino, Johnny Depp, Nicholas Cage, Ray Romano, and Bruno and Len from Dancing with the Stars, just to name a few! Also, on the stage will be the dazzling jazz vocalist, Barbara Evans. Resident and guest ticket prices are the same for this event! Tickets to all of these events are now available at the Captiva Club front desk. We hope to see you at one or all of these events!

Join your friends and neighbors, and test your knowledge on a variety of categories. Team captain may purchase tickets for the whole table, a total of 8 tickets per team; all names must be given when purchased. Please give your team members their tickets in advance, as they will be collected at the door. If you are not currently part of a team, the staff at the front desk will help assign you to a table. Residents only please. Note: Residents will be required to select a date (10/12 OR 10/13) to attend Trivia. 2nd Annual Paws for Cause Dog Parade & Costume Contest Tuesday, October 30th | 9:30am | Seashell Pavilion $5 Per Household
Get into the Halloween spirit and come join the other dogs of Vitalia, and their owners, for a social meet and greet, short parade and costume contest. We will meet at the Seashell Pavilion to take pictures and pick the best looking pooch and best behaved, then go for a short parade. Water stations will be provided for the pooches and their human companions. We will end at the pavilion with an announcement of the winners, and everyone will take home a bag of doggie treats. Costumes are not required, but are appreciated. As pre-registration is required, please email Lifestyle Attendant Briana Alvarez at balvarez@evergreenLM.com. All proceeds will support a local pet charity.

LIFESTYLES TICKET SALE INFORMATION Lifestyles will sell tickets to events two months in advance (unless a change needs to be made at the Lifestyle Director’s discretion). The main ticket sale for October Lifestyles events (excluding Trivia) will be Monday, October 1st in the Ballroom from 9am-11am. Beginning at 6am when the Captiva Club opens, you may pick up a deli ticket from the Lifestyles representative at the Front Desk. Then at 9am, please get your deli ticket in the Ballroom. One resident, in person, per table to purchase tickets. Payment can be made by check (made payable to Vitalia HOA) OR credit card. The first two weeks of ticket sales will be for Vitalia residents only (unless otherwise specified). If the event is not sold out within this time frame, residents may purchase tickets for adult guests.

This has been a very popular class; Debbie is offering it in October so many more residents have the opportunity to enjoy this fantastic art form! The Serti technique is an easy way of painting on silk fabric. It’s actually a dye so it doesn’t alter the texture of the fabric; you will still feel the lovely softness of the silk. When it’s finished you can use it as a scarf, mount it on canvas to use as wall art, or have it made into a beautiful pillow. There are so many ways to use this fabulous art form! Class size is limited to 8 people.

30 minutes of abdominal exercise with 20 minutes of a different target area each week (i.e., arms, legs, back). Abdominal strength is essential for balance, posture, coordination, and directly supports lower back strength. Participants must be able to get up and down from the floor.

Non-impact strengthening and stretching movements that require precise breathing and muscle control. Practicing Pilates in the water develops trunk stabilization, enhances muscle strength, helps correct posture and relieves stress.

The billiard game, 9 Ball, will be played by singles or teams. We play Wednesday and Friday mornings and have visited disc golf courses from Melbourne to West Palm Beach. Disc golf is played much like traditional golf. Instead of a ball and clubs, however, players use a flying disc, or Frisbee®. A golf disc is thrown from a tee area to
