6th Annual Rally

6th Annual Slow Down, Move Over Rally

Wes Passmore, owner of Classic Towing & Automotive, held the sixth annual “Slow Down, Move Over” rally on December 4, 2022. This rally starts in Hueytown, Alabama followed by a parade of 150 + trucks to Tuscaloosa, Alabama. The rally had everyone taken care of with food trucks, bounce houses for the kids, live music, first responders and towers from across the state. This event continues to grow attended by many tow owners, family members, local fire, and state police. The rally helps to spread the word and educate the public on the dangers facing our responders, and the loss of life that is happening from careless and distracted drivers.

This loss, unfortunately, Wes Passmore knows too well having lost his driver, John Hubbard, to a motorist who failed to move over one lane, striking and fatally injuring John. Wes has led a tireless journey to inform the public of the dangers towers face when responding to motorists. With the event’s growth, sponsorships have increased. Tow Professional Magazine, Progressive Insurance, Austin Hinds Motors, C.P. Wrecker Service, My Company Funding, Kevin Goodyear Towing, Allstate, Eastern Diesel & Auto, and Passmore Automotive, have stepped in this year to be a part of sponsoring this rally. The support is appreciated and goes a long way towards public awareness and reminding our Tow Professionals that we have their back and are striving to ensure their safety on the job!

6th Annual Slow Down, Move Over Rally Continued:

Tow Professional Magazine for the fourth year in a row, petitioned Governor Kay Ivey to set aside a month as “Slow Down, Mover Over,” to educate the public about driver awareness. We are happy to say the request was granted; her office will be announcing which month soon. We urge you to be active in your state associations, national association, and get to know your local legislators. One by one we can have influence. Thanks again for all who attended and supported the rally. Be safe and God bless till next year!
