This is a story about my grandmother and my remembering of her.

After she passed, I couldn’t accept my loss, so I decided to explore the process of grief through colour and generative art - the unpredictability of watercolour paints. I wrote down my memories of her, thought about the colours that the sentences reminded me of and created generative Rorschach-like pieces using watercolour and paper folding.

Over a century ago, Rorschach, a Swiss Freudian psychiatrist published his ink blot test that was supposed to determine one’s personality or mental health. It is not used today anymore. For me, the Rorschach pattern resemble the idea of memories. Everyone will see and remember something different, even if we experienced the same event. Memories are often blurry and those stains of watercolour are a metaphor for remembering a person.
