Through its resources and high impact convenings across the Continent and beyond, APF raises awareness about the important role that strategic philanthropy can play in society. It is committed to creating an enabling environment to transform the culture of giving on the Continent to the extent that it exceeds development aid by 2030. To date, it has reached approximately 2,500 stakeholders in fourteen African countries including Cameroon, Cote d’Ivoire, Egypt, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Morocco, Nigeria, Rwanda, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, and Zimbabwe. Role: Community Engagement Director Location: Nairobi, Kenya or Johannesburg, South Africa Salary: $75,000 - $90,000 USD (depending on experience) Benefits: Health and Pension Package Travel: Significant (70%) We are seeking a dynamic, passionate, result oriented and self-motivated individual to shape and lead our Community Engagement activities. Your work will focus on overseeing a range of member relations, community relations, marketing, communications, supervisory and fundraising activities. As a key member of the APF executive team, this position also supports convenings and special events and gives you the opportunity to collaborate, drive core initiatives, create and execute on forward thinking initiatives that help evolve and transform the culture of giving on the continent. The Role
• Research, analyze and generate insights on the ecosystem of potential partners
• Support the Executive Director in communicating impact to external stakeholders through updates, presentations, site visits and donor meetings
Responsibilities
• Develop, coordinate, and organize high impact events and conferences that engage the APF network
• Develop and implement a global partnership strategy aligned with and contributing to overall APF strategic objectives
• Provide leadership and support to the Communications & Marketing team
• Implement and monitor annual development plan and strategy for organizational fundraising efforts including major gifts, foundation and corporate support, and signature events
• Support the Executive Director in developing and overseeing long term strategies
• Establish and steward high-stakes programmatic partnerships, including philanthropy, government, corporate, and social organizations
• Build and nurture external relationships with stakeholders
• Track and measure the level of engagement within the APF network • Serve as spokesperson for the organization in the absence of the Executive Director

• Develop and implement a strategic plan to grow APF membership base and strengthen membership engagement
• Oversee any other tasks that may emerge as a result of the growth of the organization
• Lead APF’s local and international partnerships by developing a robust multi-year partnership strategy and plan for APF initiatives, and a funding diversification strategy

Qualifications Bachelor’s and advanced degree in social sciences, public health, public policy, international development, or related field years of relevant work experience in international development, partnership development, with at least 3 years in a managerial role communicating with C-Suite clients and success in individual and foundation fundraising. experience in philanthropy will be an advantage professional knowledge and experience in the sector developing and managing complex partnerships with leading international institutional funding partners, private and family foundations relationship management skills, including hightouch stakeholder engagement and the ability to work effectively across cultures written and verbal communication skills, including excellent PowerPoint presentation skills, and strong analytical capabilities strategic entrepreneurial thinker and problem solver managing corporate communications knowledge of media analysis & monitoring tools to manage a variety of key initiatives across locations concurrently experience of dealing with the media (print, broadcast, social and digital) Ability to speak French will be an added advantage & Competences: Self-starter, entrepreneurial and able to work as part of a team and independently Ability to work in a start-up, fast-paced environment and handle unexpected events to work collaboratively with all stakeholders
