Founded ten years ago, Bonsucro is a dynamic, purposeful, multi-stakeholder organisation, the most widely adopted standard for sustainable sugarcane and is undergoing an exciting time of expansion and opportunity. Bonsucro mission is to collectively accelerate the sustainable production and uses of sugarcane and the success of the ambitious five-year strategic plan. Bonsucro is the leading global sustainability platform and standard for sugarcane, one of the world’s most important crops. Our purpose is to collectively accelerate the sustainable production and uses of sugarcane. We convene over 270 members from more than 50 countries to address critical challenges in the sugarcane sector and drive both performance and impact through our system of sustainability standards

THE ROLE

£80,000 - £95,000 per annum

The Director of Operations is a central function reporting to the CEO and supporting the global organisation to identify and deliver the organisational strategy to meet its aims, ensuring that Bonsucro’s internal and external stakeholders have access to global exemplar corporate services support. The Director of Operations is a member of the Global Leadership team and is accountable for formulating and directing strategy for and leading the directorate of specialist functions of Finance, IT & Systems, People, Data Insights and Corporate Governance to meet the exemplar of support.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES PURPOSE

Integrate/Transform: • Oversee, organise and integrate the specialist capacities of HR/People, Finance, Risk Management, Legal, IT & systems, Monitoring and Evaluation and Corporate Governance to create an effective platform of services aligned with business needs and the strategy. • Devise and direct the strategy of the Corporate Services function and implementation of plans to ensure delivery of strategic and operational goals. • Lead the strengthening of organisational capabilities to unlock efficiencies and growth, through the design and deployment of fit-for-purpose organisational systems, digitalization, planning, monitoring and evaluation. • Oversee development and delivery of the financial strategy of the organisation. Integrate compliance with fiduciary responsibilities and internal policies, direct financial planning and reporting NS risk management. • Lead the design of and oversee the implementation of HR/People strategies and plans, including the new Pay & Performance framework. • Oversee organisational ways of working, advocating best practice, safeguarding our culture and cultural values and improving efficiencies throughout, from planning and decisions to execution.

ENGAGEMENT

Empower/Compel: • Lead the annual operational planning process, advising Global Leadership Team and teams on the process and key areas of dependencies and internal coordination needed. • Lead on the quarterly reporting to the Board, coordinating input from all directorates on progress against KPIs and support the CEO in the preparation of Board packs ahead of Board meetings. Represent the Corporate Services team in governance and leadership meetings. • Promote regular internal communication to ensure updates are shared across the organisation and teams are up to date on key processes and changes.

• Motivate and keep the Corporate Services team empowered and accountable to deliver on their annual plans whilst adhering to the organisational values and culture, promoting and role modelling the organisational principles (Adaptability, Collaboration, Credibility and Inclusivity) • Proactively retain, challenge and nurture existing business partnerships and manage contractual agreements to deliver high quality services to members and stakeholders • Develop and maintain knowledge of corporate and business service trends and broad market intelligence as it relates to all aspects of Bonsucro’s corporate operations. • Act as a senior corporate representative of the company where relevant with both internal and external stakeholders.

DELIVERY

Define business programme/line cycle: • Create the framework and oversee the delivery of annual operational plans and meaningful KPIs for the relevant functions, regularly reviewing progress and reporting on the KPIs to the CEO and GLT on achievements, risks and capacity monitoring. • Create an integrated set of organisational and governance policies and procedures to remain compliant with internal and external corporate governance regulations and policies, striving for an overall best practice and excellent governance culture. • Integrate best practices related to corporate services that are learned across the organization ensuring CS as a platform/framework is embedded, sustainable, evolving, and comprehensive and reflective of culture and values. • Design and deliver periodic review and analysis of business operations and provide findings and recommendations of areas of improvement. • Lead on cross-organisation specific projects as an when required, with strong internal collaboration and communication • Develop performance indicators for Corporate Service activities, aligned to the organization’s results management framework, to capture the impact of activities and feed these into assessment and communications initiatives.

TARGET SKILLS PROFILE SUBSTANTIVE KNOWLEDGE

• Senior level knowledge in Finance IT & Systems and HR and Finance, as well as applied knowledge in devising strategy, plans and other specialisms of the function. • Sound knowledge of UK corporate governance requirements and practices. • Applied knowledge of change management and sustaining change, including cultural changes • Creating strategy, plans and metrics to track and manage and report on performance outcomes. • Relevant knowledge and experience of working for a membership organisation, network or in a complex international stakeholder context.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS

• Excellent command of the English language and confident communicator with international stakeholders (internal and external)

EXECUTION SKILLS

• Leading high performing multi-disciplinary teams with an inclusive and empowering style.

• Substantial experience in in the specialisms of the function, particularly finance, IT, HR and crossdepartmental operational planning and delivery.

TARGETED SPECIALISED KNOWLEDGE AND PERSON SPECIFICATION

• Master’s degree/or equivalent level experience in business administration, finance, law, sustainability, or a similar related field. • Proven commitment to the values and mission of Bonsucro and corporate social responsibility. • Tactical strategist- takes strategy and turns it into an implementable action plan. • Pragmatic and process-oriented but still agile to respond positively to change. • Holds others accountable and drives results • Resilient and handles pressure well. • People orientated and empathetic • Influential and innovative- ideally tech savvy • Open to learning and comes up to speed on problems at pace.
