What we are looking for We are looking for someone with talent and potential who is ready to make a step up in their career and take on the challenge of leading a global function and building it out. You could be working in a consultancy at present, or on the client side, and you probably have 10 or more years of relevant experience, with a Masters level qualification in a relevant discipline. Stepping up may mean that you possess some, but not all of the attributes we are looking for below, but as a developmentally focused organisation with a close-knit, informal and collegiate culture, you’ll have access at Oxford HR to the support you may need to be successful in this role.
•
Fundamentally though, we are looking for someone who, whilst experienced in delivering high quality work for clients as a practitioner, is primarily motivated to build our organisational effectiveness business and drive profitable growth, whilst growing their own skills at the same time.
•
You’ll probably see yourself as someone who: • Is a credible business-person and relationship builder first, technical expert second. • Believes they have the ambition, drive and strategic insight to shape and build out a business, be an ambassador for it, with great client development and account management skills. • Has the know-how and skills to promote services convincingly across assessment, leadership, team, and organisational development. • Enjoys the limelight and leading visibly and is skilled at creating awareness, including using social media and other emerging channels, hosting webinars and client events, being interviewed and writing thought leadership pieces etc.
• •
• •
•
Is an initiative taker whilst being adaptable to emerging needs, is comfortable creating new products or solutions whilst balancing this with ensuring scalable, efficient and focussed delivery of our core services. Knows the psychology, understands modern day leadership, yet is pragmatic, someone who makes good use of technology, and understands how to ensure what we offer is leading edge and of high quality. Experienced in, or has a feel for the for-purpose sector and the challenges faced, is interested in how to develop such organisations, and has a very clear grip on what good looks like and what actually works in the real world. Strong team manager: you are going to be working with a globally dispersed team of associates, so building and maintaining the team virtually will be something you are great at doing. Culturally sensitive: you’ll be used to working with people from all over the globe and understand how to adapt services and approaches to different audiences. Is a skilled and effective communicator, with good writing and presenting skills. Sees travel (when possible) as a desirable aspect of the role.
Ultimately, you’ll be someone who wants to make their mark and grow as a person within a collaborative yet ambitious consultancy, and who sees this role as a great opportunity to do this.
