Nairobi, Kenya

The Regional Head of Finance is a cornerstone in maintaining quality, integrity and compliance in Education Development Trust’s programmes in the Sub Saharan Africa (SSA) region, with accountability for all aspects of finance in the Trust’s largest and most challenging business area. In close collaboration with the Regional Director, Country Team Leaders and global finance leads, the Head of Finance provides effective leadership and management in all finance and commercial activities in line with regional and global strategic priorities, policies, and requirements.

The job holder is responsible for oversight of accounting; treasury and cash management; budget development; expenditure monitoring; internal control; compliance; risk management; and quality assurance of internal and external financial reports.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES • To ensure the Sub Saharan Africa (SSA) region financial systems are compliant with Education Development Trust global policies and procedures, are efficient and provide accurate and timely management information. • As a member of the SSA Senior Management Team (SMT) maintain commercial oversight across the SSA Programme, to ensure the region achieves its financial objectives and manages operational risk. • To maintain and further develop the financial control and risk management framework in the SSA region. • To represent the SSA region and views of the SMT at corporate discussions pertaining to organisation development and future growth.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS ESSENTIAL • Qualified accountant (ACA, CPA or ACCA - certified.) • Bachelor of Business Administration (Finance & Accounting), Economics or relevant areas of discipline. • Excellent knowledge of financial ERP systems and how to use them in providing insight to financial decision making. • Knowledge and experience of a financial role where building relationships and supporting non-finance professionals has been fundamental part of role. • Knowledge and experience of donor funded grants and contracts including FCDO. DESIRABLE • Education sector experience • Bid submission and support from a financial/commercial standpoint • Knowledge and experience in Agresso/Unit4 Business World system

HOW TO APPLY Before applying, please check that you can answer yes to all the following questions: • Do you have an internationally recognised finance qualification (CPA, ACCA or equivalent)? • Do you have at least 10 years’ experience of financial management in the international development sector of which at least 3 were in the management of multi-country, multicurrency contract management? • Do you have experience of financial oversight of large contracts from donors such as FCDO, USAID, EU?
