Job Summary
The Global Head of Risk and Compliance is responsible for overall governance, risk management and compliance on SNV operating frameworks. S/he will lead the Global Risk and Compliance Team (10 fte). The team steers, coordinates and monitors the organisation’s risk and compliance environment. This includes maintaining and improving SNV standards and operational policy and risk frameworks, as well as steering risk, support and monitoring on legal, tax, donor contracts, supplier procurement and contracting, project execution, and country
logistics. In doing so ensure clear levels of accountability towards SNV’s board, global and country management and teams.
The Global Head of Risk and Compliance is a member of SNV’s Extended Management Team and reports to the Managing Director Business/ CFO.
Key Responsibilities
The Global Head of Risk and Compliance:
• Leads the Global Risk and Compliance team, participates in the Extended Management Team and sustains good relationships with country management as well as broader country and global teams.
• Leads the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of SNV’s operational policy environment, specifically for Contracting and Procurement, Project Execution, and Country Logistics, in line with SNV’s strategy, needs and requirements, and in consultation with relevant colleagues.
• Secures a two-way flow of information and learning between country/ project teams and the Global Compliance Team, thereby ensuring the provision of quality advise, support, and training towards teams across the SNV world.
• Provides leadership on key SNV donor compliance and contractual requirements, ensuring these are embedded within SNV’s operational policy and systems infrastructure.
• Establishes and maintains a sound and shared risk management approach across SNV, enabling the organisation to understand and operate within its desired risk appetite.
• Acts as a trusted advisor to SNV’s Management Board, including on risk management, following a data driven reporting approach.
• Works collaboratively with other departments and country management to increase awareness regarding risk and compliance.
Requirements

Education and Experience:
• Master’s Degree (or equivalent experience) in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance and/ or Economics
• 6+ years demonstrable senior level experience in governance, risk and compliance in an international environment, with strong preference for experience in the international development cooperation sector
• Leadership in a fast changing, multi-stakeholder and intercultural environment with the ability and experience to provide guidance, mentoring and context to team membersExperience with governance, (organizational) risk management, and compliance tooling
• Excellent strategic insight and analytical capability
• Proficiency in English (both written and oral). Proficiency in French is an advantage
• High personal standards of excellence combined with a reputation for having the highest ethical and integrity standards.
