OUR VISION

Our 2021–2023 strategy outlines a vision for a world where mental health support is accessible to everyone. We use our expertise to advance this vision, focussing on four areas of strategic impact –rights, education, systems, and finance – to deliver progress.

Rights: Everyone has the right to enjoy the highest attainable level of mental health.

Education: We can empower the general population through education on mental health – decreasing stigma and discrimination and promoting people’s rights.

Systems: Quality, comprehensive and person-centred mental health services should be accessible for all.

Financing: Optimal finance is needed for effective mental health systems.

At the heart of our strategy is a vision for a world where everyone, everywhere has access to mental health support. Ultimately a kinder, healthier, more productive world. Learn more here about our strategy

ABOUT GLOBAL MENTAL HEALTH ACTION NETWORK

Our membership network is the world’s leading advocacy network for better global mental health. We are a community of advocates, focused on building the political and social will to make mental health services accessible globally.

United for Gobal Mental Health founded and act as the secretariat for the ‘Global Mental Health Action Network,’ an open coalition of mental health professionals of over 2,800 individuals and organisations across 133 countries. GMHAN is a free to access membership organisation established to connect people and resources to promote better mental health awareness and provision.

With more than 3,000 members from academia, governments, international organisations, NGOs and the private sector, from over 125 countries there are many reasons to be part of our growing network.

Mental health campaigners and advocates – including those with lived experience – come from an incredibly diverse range of backgrounds. We work hard to include the experiences and perspectives often missed in conversations about mental wellbeing.

We know that mental health is influenced by everything from socio-economic conditions, gender and ethnicity, to sexuality and the attitudes and beliefs of individual communities. We therefore endeavour to work with partners who reflect that breadth of experience.
