The Oxford-Lafayette School of Applied Technology, also known as The Tech, serves both the Oxford School District and the Lafayette County School District with vocational and technical education. The school has seven areas of study, from health careers to auto mechanics. Students may take classes at The Tech in 9th through 12th grades. Because both districts provide equal funding, classes are offered to any students from either Lafayette High School or Oxford High School. Programs offered at The Tech include: Automotive Service Technology, Construction and Carpentry, Health Science, Metal Fabrications, Programming Fundamentals and Teacher Academy.

NORTHWEST MISSISSIPPI COMMUNITY COLLEGE

Students in North Mississippi can take advantage of higher education opportunities at Northwest Mississippi Community College in three convenient locations: the main campus in Senatobia, Lafayette-Yalobusha Technical Center in Oxford or DeSoto Center in Southaven and Olive Branch. More than 200 academic and career-technical classes are also offered online by Northwest’s eLearning Division. Students from Lafayette County are a significant part of Northwest’s student population. Students from this county comprise the fourth-largest student population group for the college’s overall enrollment. Northwest is a two-year public community college offering programs of study in academic and career-technical education. The college also conducts GED, continuing education classes and industrial training through its Workforce Development program. The college is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award the Associate of Arts degree, the Associate of Applied Science degree, and certificates in career education. Students taking classes on the Oxford campus can choose from nine career and technical programs of study, and students can take core academic classes in day or evening school classes. Technical programs available at the center include: Medical Office Technology, Administrative Office Technology, Business Management Technology, Paralegal Technology and Surgical Technology. Career programs available at the campus include Cosmetology, Health Care Assistant and Practical Nursing. The center includes modern classrooms, labs and a learning resources center for students. The Oxford campus also hosts a variety of academic clubs that can be transferred to most universities and come with great scholarship opportunities.
