How did you meet?

Clayton and I were set up by his sister-in-law in the fall of 2018 on Ole Miss’s Homecoming weekend. A few weeks later, I gathered up the courage to ask him to be my date to a wedding. He said “yes,” and the rest is history!

Tell us about the proposal

Clayton and I both moved to DC after graduate school & nursing school. One Tuesday night, Clayton told me he wanted to take me out to dinner at the nicest restaurant in his neighborhood. I was suspicious that it might happen that night, but I convinced myself that there was no way it would actually happen. As we left his house to walk to dinner, he stopped me on the sidewalk and asked me to marry him. Once I said “yes,” I turned around and all of our closest friends were walking down the block cheering. It was such a special day!

Describe your wedding dress

I would describe my wedding dress as elegant and timeless. I knew I wanted something clean and simple, but also I wanted it to have something special. I found that in my Allure wedding gown which had a detachable train that I took off for the reception. I absolutely love my wedding gown!

Favorite moment from your big day

My favorite moment from our wedding day was when Clayton and I went to stand on the side of the stage at the reception and watched all of our family & friends dancing together. It was such a special moment to see everyone we love all gathered in one place. You could feel the joy and happiness in that moment, and it’s a memory I’ll cherish forever.

Favorite wedding details

There were so many things I loved about our wedding, and I wouldn’t have changed a thing! However, I think my very favorite detail is probably the white tulips that were carried by my bridesmaids and in my bouquet. My mother had her bridesmaids carry bouquets of tulips at my parents’ wedding, and I loved replicating that at our wedding. Now, I think of our perfect wedding day each time I see a white tulip.

What you are doing now

Now, Clayton & I are living in Washington DC. I am a speech-language pathologist, and Clayton is an ICU nurse. We are loving spending time in this city and experiencing all it has to offer.
