The Oxford English Centre English for Teachers The Oxford English Centre was established in 1979. The school is in magnificent premises, close to the centre of Oxford. The Oxford English Centre is accredited by the British Council and is a member of EnglishUK, The English Network (TEN) and IALC - your guarantees of quality. Last year we welcomed students from over 70 nationalities who benefited from our excellent facilities, imaginative social programme and our enthusiastic and experienced teaching staff. Above all, the Oxford English Centre is a friendly and caring school where students receive a lot of personal attention and where learning is enjoyable.

Overseas Teachers’ Refresher Courses This is a very practical course for teachers of teenagers and adults who want to develop their teaching skills and take away new ideas that can be immediately applied or adapted for the classroom. • Course duration: 2 weeks • Mixed nationality groups • 20 lessons of teaching methodology • 10 lessons of advanced language training in mainstream, graded international classes • One lesson is 45 minutes tuition • Level – Upper-Intermediate or above Available on selected dates throughout the year.

English for Teachers at Oxford English Centre We offer specifically designed courses for teachers of English who wish to learn about new techniques, classroom activities and materials. It also provides an opportunity for teachers to enrich their own knowledge of English through direct contact with the language and culture; personal language development, and discussion with colleagues from other countries. • Classes for individuals in mixed nationality groups of teachers combining teaching methodology with advanced language training • Classes for primary teachers combining teaching methodology and developing personal English proficiency • CLIL courses for teachers who wish to teach their main subject through English

Primary Teachers’ Refresher Courses

CLIL Courses for Teachers

This course is for teachers of young learners (6-11 years old), and focuses on teaching methodology and the development of personal language skills in English.

This course is for teaching professionals who want to develop their skills in teaching their subject (science, maths, geography, art, etc.) wholly or partly through the medium of English. Course sessions cover the methodology and practise of all components required to prepare a successful CLIL lesson. In addition to this, teachers have the opportunity to develop their language proficiency in mixed nationality classes.

Course B Individual tuition (1-1) for teachers Our teachers will design a course to meet your needs. 15-40 lessons per week.

Courses AB25 & AB30 Group course plus Individual Tuition These are intensive courses combining 20 lessons of General English in mixed nationality classes with either 5 or 10 lessons of Individual Tuition. Please refer to our Dates and Fees booklet.

Courses for Closed Groups Oxford English Centre accepts groups of teachers from language schools, High Schools, Primary Schools, and Regional Departments for specialised courses designed to suit their specific needs. In the past we have welcomed groups from France, Brazil, China, and Spain. If you would like us to design a course and prepare a quotation please contact us.
