6 Smoking It is forbidden to smoke in public places such as bus / tram stops, railways stations, airports, department stores, shops, any forms of public transport, cinemas, waiting rooms, banks and all other public places. Any violation of the above restrictions is punishable. Smoking is allowed in special zone in restaurants, summer gardens, pubs and clubs.

Drugs The notorious article 62.1 in Poland’s drug law penalizes possession of any quantity of drugs - regardless of their intended use and their type, as practice shows – with a penalty of up to 3 years’ imprisonment. Please respect those rules.
Alcohol Drinking alcohol (including beer) is forbidden in public places. Drinking is strictly prohibited in parks, the surroundings of night shops and railways stations. The sale of cigarettes and alcohol to minors (under 18 years of age) is strictly forbidden. 0,2 m alcoholic content in blood is the permitted upper limit for driving. Please take note, that drinking even one beer causes that you are already above the limit. Driving when under the

12 TRAMS-BUSES-CYCLES-TRAINSAIRLINES How to get around You can search for the best connection with www.jakdojade.pl available in both Polish and English. This webpage (also available as an app) will simply generate the easiest and quickest route providing all information about the stops, schedule and travel duration. Where to buy tickets? Tickets are sold at newsagent kiosks and ti cketi ng machines (located at the stops). They can also be bought on-board from the multi lingual ticket machines but only with the use of a credit card. The same ticket can be used for both trams and buses. One ti cket is used for buses and trams. What types of tickets are available? Tickets can be valid for a specific length of time – 15 minutes, 30 minutes, one hour, one day, 24 hours etc. or just for
13 one travel. By using „jakdojade.pl” you will be able to tell which ticket to buy since it informs you of the travel time. When the ticket is stamped in the machine on board, the time is printed on the ticket. Remember, that each ticket should be stamped only once. The price for an adult for a single-pass - ticket is 3 PLN, - the ticket for 30 min of travel is 3 PLN, - for 60 min is 4,40 PLN, - for 24 h is 11 PLN. Students can buy tickets with a 50% discount. For those, who use public transport very often, the URBANCARD will be a cheaper and more comfortable solution e.g. the monthly fee for all day-time buses and trams is 90 PLN. Ask Oxy2 to make an URBANCARD for you! Rail tickets Tickets can be bought both online on www.intercity.pl and on the station
using the machines or at the desks. Express / IC InterCity / EC EuroCity trains charge extra for seat booking. Visit the information desk to enquire about timetables, prices and special offers or use the official website: www.rozklad-pkp.pl If you happen to be too late to buy a ticket at the station, you can still board the train and, as soon as possible, ask the controller to sell you a ticket (at a surcharge). Poland now has its TGV and it’s called Pendolino. This high-speed train connects the main cities of Poland: Warsaw, Krakow, Wroclaw, Katowice, Gdansk and Gdynia. Polski Bus is an innovative inter-city express based in Poland providing high quality of bus service (air-co, free Wi-Fi, electrical socket available under each seat, disabled asses, eco) on both national and international routes. Polski bus has recently introduced a „Gold” line making travels between the main cities in Poland more comfortable by making wider seats with more leg space. Airport Wroclaw – Copernicus Airport is a newly opened international airport placed only 10 km from the city. From Wrocław you can reach all the major hubs in Europe. The airport also provides low-cost carriers and charter airlines usually operated by tour organizers. Using public transport you can reach the airport by taking the 406 bus, which rounds every 20 minutes from Dwordcoa street located next to the train station. 14 Using your own transport All vehicles are required to use headlights, during day and night all year round. The use of seat belts is compulsory for front and rear-seat passengers. The Law does not require winter tires but it is highly recommended to use them during the season due to severe conditions. Your vehicle must be constructed, equipped and maintained so that its use does not endanger passengers or other drivers. The use of tires ďŹ tted with permanent anti-slip material (ie of studded tires) is prohibited. Generally chains are permitted and in certain designated places they are mandatory. Studded tires are strictly forbidden in Poland. Speed limits: - inner-city area - 50 km/h - outside built-up area - 90 km/h - dual carriageway - 120 km/h - single-lane road - 100 km/h - motorway - 140 km/h

16 There are several parking zones in Wrocław. We have prepared for you a few tips that will help you take care of your car in the city. Be careful and park your vehicle only in place you are allowed to. Otherwise you get a fine, and if unlucky, a socket on your wheels too.

In the majority of the shopping malls (Galeria Dominikańska, Pasaż Grunwaldzki, Renoma etc.) you will find multi-storey car parks. Usually the first hour is free of charge, every additional hour will cost you from 2 to 3 pln. This underground parking is located under the Plac Nowy Targ – ‘Parking Nowy Targ’. It has 3 floors and can fit over 330 cars. The cost is 5 pln per hour.
