UNDERSTANDING THE MESSAGE OF THE PROPHETS “AMOS – PROOFS OF INSPIRATION”

“Seek him that maketh the seven stars [Pleiades ASV, LY) and Orion, and turneth the shadow of death into the morning, and maketh the day dark with night: that calleth for the waters of the sea, and poureth them out upon the face of the earth: The Lord is his name:” (Amos 5:8). Job likewise wrote of these two constellations, although they were not yet discovered nor known of in the days of himself or Amos, “Canst thou bind the sweet influences of Pleiades, or loose the bands of Orion” (Job 38:31)? Only inspiration can account for their knowledge of these two constellations. The Bible is the Book of books. It has scientific (above), medical, historic, and geographical statements contained within its pages which are irrefutable evidence to its inspiration. For years scholars scoffed at the idea that the Hittites lived on earth as early as did Esau and his family, “And Esau was forty years old when he took to wife Judith the daughter of Beeri the Hittite, and Bashemath the daughter of Elon the Hittite:” (Genesis 26:34). In more recent times archeological digs have found that the Bible was historically correct and that the Bible Critics were wrong. Moses recorded that the life of the flesh is in the blood, a medical truth unknown in his time but more recently affirmed by Horse Trader - September 4, 2014 - Page 23 medical science, “For the life of the flesh is in the blood: …” (Leviticus 17:11). Only inspiration can account for Moses’ medical knowledge. Luke spake of the altitude of Jerusalem when he penned, “And after those days we took up our carriages, and went up to Jerusalem” (Acts 21:15). Critics thought he wrote concerning direction, (north – up, and south – down, as sea level was unknown at this time), and ridiculed him because to travel from Caesarea to Jerusalem one would have to go down, not up. However at the end of the day, the egg was on the face of the Critics and not Luke or our God. God, through nature, declares His own existence, “The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handiwork” (Psalms 19:1). Paul penned, “For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:” (Romans 1:20). When we see a house, it declares the existence of a builder, “For every house is builded by some man; but he that built all things is God” (Hebrews 3:4). Even so, the universe declares the existence of God and those who refuse to accept the evidence are without excuse. Christianity is indeed based upon faith, but it is not blind faith as alleged by the Atheist (2nd Corinthians 5:7 and Hebrews 11:1). The Atheist scoffs at the miracles of the Bible but in blind faith accepts the miracles of atheism and/or evolution. There is no evidence whatsoever to support the idea that the earth created itself or that any life form ever transformed from one creature into another but, in blind faith, the Atheist embraces both concepts. Scientific law (the first law of thermodynamics) basically states, “Matter is not capable of creating itself.” Bio-genesis, another scientific law, states Animal that, “life only comes fromAuctions life, and that of its own kind.” Both of these scientific laws are in harmony with the creation account (Genesis 1:1 and 1:24-25). HOMOSEXUALITY IS NOT GENETIC!

It is of great interest to note that the Bible begins with a warning and ends with a warning. The book of Genesis, the first book of the Bible, gives the first warning not to eat of the forbidden fruit (Gen.2: 17). The last book in the Bible, (Revelation) concludes with a warning not to add to nor to subtract from the Word of God (Rev.22:18-19). The word “woe” is found throughout the Bible. It is a distress warning of impending dreadful consequences. These warnings are given from a benevolent God who desires all men to be saved (Jn.3:16; I Tim.2:3-4). The Bible is very clear that those who practice “the works of the flesh ... shall not inherit the kingdom of God” (I Cor.6:9-10; Gal.5:19-21)! For years, haters of God and His Word have been steadily attempting to “whittle away” the moral fiber of our nation. Beloved, when the moral fiber of a nation is removed chaos reigns, and inevitably that nation will fall! A look at past civilizations who have accepted homosexuality, polygamy, bestiality and incest proves this point! For some time there has been an all out frontal attack on God and His inspired Word. The liberal media, many Hollywood celebrities, politicians, newspaper columnists, liberal theologians and churches have openly embraced homosexuality as an acceptable lifestyle. In spite of what many would have us to believe, homosexuality is not genetic, but a learned behavior. Because some may have a genetic tendency does not mean they· are a homosexual. A plea of sympathy and tolerance of accepting the alternative lifestyle has inundated the air waves and liberal publications. We are seeing before our eyes, an attempt to completely denounce God and His Word as the source or standard for the human race. When one rejects God and His Word there is no right and wrong!! Yes, God loves all sinners, including homosexuals, but He does not approve or accept their sinful practice! Our heavenly Father wants all sinners to repent, obey the gospel and no longer walk in the darkness of sin (Col.3). I Corinthians 6:9-11 informs us that people can terminate sinful practices and live righteous lives! As pointed out by F. Furman Kearley in his tract Homosexuality: Correcting the Politically Correct, pp, 7,9). “Sodomy is never spoken of approvingly in the Bible. It is always spoken of in condemnation and an example of how God will condemn other sinful people and nations (Deut.29:23; 32:32; lsa.1:9-10; 3:9; 13:19). Throughout history condemnation of sodomy has been understood and enforced by Jews and Christians.” The horrible consequences of rejecting God and His Word are clearly set forth in Scripture (Jn.12:48; 2 Th.1:7-9). Those who participate as well as those who give their consent to homosexuality need to heed the warnings of Almighty God before it is everlasting too late (Rom.1 :26-32)! “Even as Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities about them, in like manner giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire” (Jude 7). “0 earth, earth, earth, hear the word of the Lord” (Jer.22:29)!
