An Acrostic poem is a poem in which the first letter of each line (or paragraph) forms a special word or phrase, usually the poem’s title. Letters usually appear at the beginning of a line, but they can appear in the middle or at the end of a line. When they are paired together, they’ll form a meaningful message. The structure of an Acrostic poem is very simple, first letter of each line of the poem is capitalized. Acrostic poems are usually written vertically within each poem, conveying the message and theme of the poem. Like other poems, an Acrostic poem does not need to rhyme, but can use transposition and rhythm in the poem.
