WHY GERMANY?
This study tour seeks to familiarize Pace students with Germany the country, it’s history, and its people. Throughout the 20th century, for better or for worse, Germany was the pivotal country in Europe and changed the trajectory of world history politically, economically, socially, and culturally. Our study tour seeks to introduce students to the best that Germany has contributed, and some of the worst. Students will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in German history and culture through visits to museums, famous locations, and concert halls in both Munich and Berlin. WHY GHANA?
This study tour program in Ghana introduces students to the history, culture, and modern dynamics of the country, focusing on its deep connection to the African diaspora. Participants will explore historical sites, such as the Cape Coast and Elmina Castles, to confront the legacy of the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade. The program also emphasizes Ghana’s role in pan-African movements and modern-day diasporic returns, especially through the "Year of Return" campaign. Students will engage with local communities, participate in workshops, and explore the country’s vibrant arts, food, and music culture. By the end, students will understand how Ghana is creating a new vision for the future, and about the complexities and tensions that have arisen as Ghana forges forward.

WHY ITALY?
This study tour to Italy focuses on exploring the Slow Food movement and its impact on sustainable eating. Participants will immerse themselves in the culture, history, and practices of local food systems, learning directly from farmers and culinary experts. The journey begins in Paestum, where travelers learn about buffalo milk production and enjoy farm-to-table meals. In Calabria, they participate in hands-on experiences, such as citrus harvesting and pasta making. Afterward, the group visits Pompeii and Salerno before ending the trip in Rome, with tours of ancient landmarks like the Colosseum and Roman Forum. Throughout, participants will reflect on how Slow Food principles can inspire more sustainable food practices in their own communities. WHY SOUTH KOREA?
This immersive program offers students a deep dive into South Korea's rich cultural, historical, and political landscape. Over the course of the trip, participants explore the divided Korean peninsula, the influence of culture on the youth, and South Korea's economic development. The itinerary includes visits to historical landmarks such as Bukchon Hanok Village, Gwangjang Market, and the DMZ, and cultural experiences like traditional cooking classes, a K-Pop challenge, and a temple stay at Naksan Mountain. Additionally, students engage with local experts, North Korean defectors, and youth through interviews, gaining firsthand insights into modern South Korean life. The program balances academic inquiry with fun activities like an Amazing Race in Insadong and karaoke.

This program immerses students in the intersection of Indigenous knowledge, environmental stewardship, and modern development on Vancouver Island. Students will engage with First Nations historians, elders, and researchers at the University of Victoria, exploring the ongoing reconciliation between traditional land rights and resource use. Highlights include visiting Snuneymuxw territory to learn traditional ecological practices, touring a commercial sawmill, and reflecting on the impacts of logging and urban growth. Outdoor activities like whale watching, and hiking in Cathedral Grove offer students a hands-on experience with the environment. This program immerses students in Bali's dynamic interplay of tourism, culture, and environment. Beginning in Kuta, participants engage with the island's pressing issues, from plastic pollution to ethical tourism. They visit pivotal organizations like the Bali Sea Turtle Society and Bye Bye Plastic Bags, and participate in hands-on activities such as eco-brick workshops and beach cleanups. In Ubud, the focus shifts to sustainable agriculture and cultural preservation through visits to the Tri Hita Karana Foundation and Green School. The journey culminates with a sunrise hike up Mount Batur, offering reflections on Bali’s sacred landscapes and cultural heritage. A highlight of the trip is the homestay experience in Valparaíso, where students will gain firsthand insights into Chilean family life and community engagement. Begin at Kingue Farm with hands-on activities in sustainable farming and ecosystem exploration. After acclimating with a hike in Pasochoa Reserve, embark on a multi-day backpacking adventure in the high Andes. Students take on leadership roles and practice Leave No Trace principles while hiking through breathtaking mountain terrain. The expedition culminates with a visit to Yasuni National Park in the Amazon rainforest, where students experience traditional Kichwa culture, hike through wildlife-rich trails, and canoe and fish in the Tiputini River. WHY GREECE?
This immersive journey through Greece offers a deep dive into the complexities of migration and its impact on both local communities and global issues. The trip begins in Athens with explorations of historical sites like the Acropolis and engaging with local street art and neighborhoods. Participants will then travel to the island of Lesvos, a critical location in the recent refugee crisis, where they will meet with organizations aiding migrants, volunteer on food security projects, and connect with locals to understand their experiences. The program concludes with reflections in Athens, including art workshops inspired by the trip and a visit to a refugeeowned Greek fusion restaurant. This trip provides a unique opportunity to explore the intersection of migration, history, and community response in Greece. WHY MEXICO?
This study tour offers an in-depth exploration of the indigenous cultures, traditions, and cuisine of Mexico City and Oaxaca. A highlight is the opportunity to build meaningful connections through exchanges with indigenous communities and students. Our journey includes a 4-night homestay in Oaxaca, with two indigenous Mexican students joining us throughout the tour. We will visit vibrant markets, learn to cook traditional dishes, and enjoy breathtaking views of archaeological sites from a hot air balloon. In Xochimilco, a UNESCO World Heritage site, we’ll explore the ancient floating gardens by trajinera boat. We’ll also discover Mexico’s street art by bicycle and explore our shared connection to nature on foot, learning about the Mexica (Aztec), Zapotec, Maya, and Mixtec civilizations, which continue to shape Mexico’s rich culture.
