It's Going to Cost You
By TIM HIRSCH of the Sun
Tillamook County Parks Department has installed the fee machines it plans to use as part of the county’s new fee system at Cape Kiwanda and the Pacific City Turnaround (west end of Pacific Avenue), but they won’t be activated until the week of March 15- 19, according to Parks Director JoAnn Woelfle.
The new machines are two of the five that the county has purchased. As previously reported in the Sun, the five solar-powered automated fee machines came at a cost of $11,503 each.
Previous talks between Tillamook County Parks, Commissioner David Yamamoto and Tillamook County Sheriff Joshua Brown discussed the concept of having an educational period of a few weeks once the machines are operational before the parking fee is enforced.
“Once the machines are activated there will be an initial period of time for familiarizing and educating the public about the new parking fee process that is in place and any initial enforcement will be aimed at education rather than fines,” Woelfle told the Sun. The daily fee for use of both the Cape Kiwanda lot and the Pacific City Turnaround is $10. Users can also purchase a daily pass or an annual pass ($55 or $45 for seniors, disabled veterans or Oregon Trail Card holders) by visiting https://www.co.tillamook. or.us/gov/parks/.
