Oceania Sportfishing Club is a Private Fishing Club for people who love to fish, explore the wonders of the marine environment and support fishery research and conservation. Your Clubhouse is the amazing oceania marine environment and you fish the entire Region. Fishing for barra at the top end of Australia, reef fish along Australian East Coast and into the Pacific, or take up the chase for giant blue and black marlin. You chose where and when to fish. Your Club Membership offers the opportunity to win some great prizes, access exclusive privileges and fund the fishery research and history projects of the Pacific Marinelife Institute.
Oceania Sportfishing Club is a membership program of the Pacific Marinelife Institute. Established by the Institute to raise vital funds for its fishery research and history projects.
Oceania Sportfish Challenge Your Oceania Sportfishing Club Membership includes entry into the Oceania Sportfish Challenge which runs each year from the 1st June to 31st May. Entry is open exclusively to members of the Oceania Sportfishing Club. Club Members earn Challenge Points when fishing on board an affiliated charter boat, in an affiliated tournament or with an affiliated Professional Crew Member on board the member’s private vessel. Estuary, Reef and Pelagic species are all eligible, and bonus points are awarded for tag and release. Prizes are awarded each month and trophies, including the Men, Women and Junior Oceania Sportfish Trophies are awarded at a Club Event held in June of each year.
Your Own Challenge Oceania Sportfish Club will happily create your own fishing competition within the Oceania Sportfish Challenge. Compete against friends and other businesses for your own Trophies and prizes. This is a fantastic way to promote your Company or create some rivalry amongst close friends. In establishing the Oceania Sportfishing Club, Pacific Marinelife Institute has returned full circle to its origins. In 1991, Club Fish Australia established the CFA Fishery Research Foundation, what was to become the Institute to fund marlin research on the Great Barrier Reef. Then in 1993, the then Foundation started its own research and the Institute now manages one of the largest non-government catch databases in the South Pacific and since 2008 has undertaken to document the past and living history of the Reef and Gamefishing. Membership in the Oceania Sportfishing Club funds the Institute's long-term monitoring programs, tagging projects, a Bio-Resource to support future population and age-growth studies, the opening of research centres throughout the Pacific; and the Oceania Fishing Museum and its work to preserve the history of the people, boats, fish, places and events that make up fishing in the region.

Founding Life Members also receive special recognition in the Club publications and Oceania Sportfish magazine.
