About College of the Pacific College of the Pacific (COP) was founded in 1851 as the university’s liberal arts core. COP is the oldest and largest academic unit, offering courses in the natural sciences, social sciences and humanities. College faculty provide leadership and direction for foundational courses in Pacific’s general education program, champion experiential learning, and foster intellectual curiosity and conviction in the pursuit of meaningful personal and professional lives. In fall 2021, COP enrolled 1,646 students guided by 140 faculty (110 tenured/tenure-track, 30 non-tenure-track) and 56 staff. Position Summary The dean is the chief academic and administrative officer for College of the Pacific to whom Pacific delegates significant responsibility, autonomy and accountability for the college’s future. The dean is responsible for the academic leadership of the college, engagement with its communities and financial success (inclusive of resources dedicated to enrollment management, faculty/staff and facilities). The dean stewards innovative scholarship and creative activities, provides strategic vision and operational leadership, and promotes synergies within the college, university community and externally. Looking forward, the dean will lead the college’s efforts to advance the liberal arts and support a bold strategy for the future that is aligned with Pacific’s mission, vision and goals, particularly around growing enrollment, strengthening student success and advancing social justice, equity and inclusion.
