Position Purpose The inaugural Vice President for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion will report directly to the President, will be part of the President’s cabinet, a collaborative and creative team, and will be expected to exude optimism while engaging with all campus community members to bring forward issues of diversity, equity inclusion and social justice, acting as a change agent for the university. The individual will be expected to bring together individuals by increasing and enhancing dialogue, leading and steering our development of cultural competency, integrating our beliefs and actions to align with the university mission and values, toward our commitment to become an anti-racist institution that can empower people who have been marginalized.

Background The inaugural role of Vice President for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion provides the successful candidate the unique opportunity to shape the position, working directly with the university’s president, Christopher Callahan, to deepen the university’s commitment to its constituents by seeking to instill our values throughout the entire university culture, including opening pathways to increase diversity of the student body and workforce. President Callahan has an impressive track record of developing programs and leading efforts that dramatically increased student enrollment, retention, diversity, graduation rates and recruitment of out-of-state students.
