It is Better

“A nd I have been a constant example of how you can help those in need by working hard. You should remember the words of the Lord Jesus: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive’” (Acts 20:35, NLT).

The members of the Kapolei church plant appreciate the blessings of giving, and they are eager to give. Our church plant started out in a 5-bedroom house in Kapolei, Hawaii. However, the time had come to develop and grow, to move out and impact the community of Kapolei. After much prayer, we set out to find a new home.

The Lord opened the doors for us at Barbers Point Elementary School. You will find us at this school every Sabbath morning from 9:30 to 1:30. We are busy doing two things: • Worshipping God • Preparing to give

One day, as I was heading to the school to pay our monthly rent, I

to Give

By Rene Lopez

asked the principal, “Is there anything we can do to help your students?” I was shocked to find out that 60% of the student body live below the poverty line. I was even more shocked when she informed me that a great number of the students are homeless. These homeless students live in their family cars and shower at their school every morning before class. These children of God are in need of basic necessities, such as: • Toothbrushes • Toothpaste • Slippers • Underwear • Backpacks • Pencils • Eating utensils

The list of needs goes on and on. Our small group decided that God had placed us there for a reason, so we started collecting the items listed above and put together special bags to donate to each student.

We have decided to tackle one grade at a time. Here are pictures of our youth preparing bags for the kindergarten children at Barbers Point. Next month we will be distributing items for the upper grades.

If you would like to help out, please contact us via Hawaii Conference.
