collectors. Other publishers of note who contributed mightily to the priceless heritage available today include Julius Bien & Company; L.R. Conwell, Gottschalk, Dreyfuss & Davis; I. Stern; Rose Company; P. Sander; A. W. Santway; Souvenir Publishing Company; and Ullman Manufacturing Company. Some publishers did not identify themselves. The best of these efforts include Series No. 3028 of Miss Liberty and Uncle Sam drawn against backgrounds of firecrackers, flags and cannons; plus Series From the highly regarded E. Nash No. 520, picturing Colonial troops. Company’s series No. 4. In addition to the cards each. Included was an approximately 40 different unnumbered set featuring Uncle Sam, which many collectors consider to be among the best ever made for the holiday. One card of special merit shows Uncle Sam seated, surrounded by children representing America’s newly acquired colonies of Cuba, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, Guam and the Philippines. Another gives us a rambunctious Teddy Roosevelt whizzing old “Unc” off in a red, white and blue racing car. Paul Finkenrath of Berlin (“PFB”), who did much business in this country from around 1906 up to World War I, vended three sets. All are now rare and much sought after by
