ASTRAL AND HEMP In the 80’s, our founder read “the emperor wears no clothes” and was introduced to the amazing environmental merits of hemp. In the 90’s, he became a lifejacket designer and discovered that the “canvas” sails on pirate ships were indeed made from “cannabis”. He studied the serious performance characteristics of this material that so rarely appeared in the USA. In 2018, the world is awakening to the many benefits of industrial hemp, and Astral is ecstatic to finally offer shoes made from it…hemp is the ultimate performance fiber for living right!
