If you do not live close to a river, a lake or the sea, one may assume it to be most convenient, for you to store your boat at home, and take it to the place where you wish, whenever you want to. What you need to consider is: • A solid boat (made of wood, plastic, aluminium) retains its volume even when stored at home and during transportation. That restricts mobility quite a lot! • A folding boat, being demountable, consists of many individual components, the volume of which needs to be packed into several bags. Those components have to be reassembled. • An inflatable boat is the private owners ideal type of boat, for travel and best suited for roll up flat-pack. It takes on the shape of a boat only when filled with air. The flatpack unit is approximately 90% smaller than the room taken up by a solid boat, and around 60% smaller than that of a foldingtype boat. ADVANTAGE - Safety and riding comfort Riding qualities of a boat are predominantly determined by the shape and stiffness of the hull. The better shaped, the harder and rigid, the better is the boats stability and performance.

A GRABNER inflatable boat incorporates maximum safety, thus allowing you to enjoy the pleasures of boating much more. For example: • Because of the increased buoyancy provided by the crafts float chambers.

It is the air pumped into an inflatable boat, which makes up its shape, rigidity and firm ness. Ordinary inflatable boats usually allow only a low maximum air-pressure. Exceeding such pressure may result in damage to the craft.

• Because of the multi-chamber system. Should one air chamber become defect, the remaining compartments will still provide adequate buoyancy. • Because of the stability, when stepping into the boat, and when under way.

PRODUCTION METHODS GRABNER inflatable boats undergo a process of “heat-vulcanisation”, where sections of raw composition-rubber (without roughening) are glued together, and only the entire boat will undergo completion, by application of the pressure-heat-vulcanisation process. During that procedure the adhesive-cemented joints will merge to become one homogeneous unit. That ensures absolute air-tightness and rigidity. (x) INFLATED BOTTOM All GRABNER inflatable boats (2) are provided with an inflatable-bottom. Only the section of an inflated bottom enables quick and easy assembly, as well as rapid deflation. At the same time it constitutes little weight and minimum pack volume. In addition, it provides extra buoyancy, is comfortable to sit on or to lie back, and most of all, due to elasticity it gives way when bumping the ground.

SAFETY GRABNER consider safety of their inflatable craft a matter of paramount importance. The robust and elastic boat-skin bounces and gives way when subjected to bumps of severe velocity. CANADIAN CANOE (XR TREKKING, Outside, Adventure, Speed) A canoe too is well suited to white-water exploration and white-watercoursing. You knee or sit in a canoe and the weight of your body rests on a „seat-board“. It is propelled by single-bladed paddles or doubleblade paddles. A canoe is broader, hence particularly more safe against capzise. Furthermore a canoe offers additional storage space for luggage to be stowed and carried. Recommendation Canadian canoe: • if you are looking for a slim and capsize-safe boat • if you wish to stow and carry additional luggage on your boat • if you wish to accommodate more than 2 persons.

ALL-ROUND (Ranger, FAMILY, HOBBY) An “all-round” boat in principle is suited for all sorts of applications. Its main use however will not be the use of water-way exploration or white-water kayaking, but rowing, moving under motor, or sailing. It is best suited for bathing, because of the wide beam, and the ease by which a swimmer can climb back aboard. There is a range of accessories to complement various types of boats. We have taken care to ensure that technical design and colour can be matched to suit, and to provide great satisfaction. When buying a boat, make sure it comes with GRABNER original accessories. Accessories inclusive as standard GRABNER inflatable boats come complete with all the equipment needed to get under way. Accessory-specials over and above are not contained in the basic price. The reason for that is, that different boat owners have entirely different requirements when it comes to the items they want for their boat. On the other hand, they may already have certain items of equipment. Why dispose of old and buy new? Accessory-sets The accessory sets contain those items, which make up the most popular purchases. • Standard accessory sets appertain to basic equipment. • Professional accessory sets include items for professional applications. Please note, that accessory sets offer considerable savings in comparison to individually purchased parts. Note: To accept certain fittings, some accessories require patches to be glued to the boat skin. We can already take care of that at our factory. The GRABNER designed JUMP is a development that meets all the requirements and desires of whitewater canoeists fond on travelling. The Jump is a most remarkable craft: • Modern hydrodynamic design, optimised for short boat shape. • The high buoyancy and high raised coa ming require a little getting used to and practice when performing the Eskimo roll.

• The JUMP is a boat that has many faces and applications of use. No matter whether you are a hobby paddler or an experienced whitewater enthusiast, say to WW 4, river, lake, sea, wave or counter current surf, the JUMP can handle it when it comes to having fun in the water. The JUMP is very safe, for if swamped with water, it never sinks.

• It is a matter of logic, that an inflatable boat can not be constructed in a manner as a solid hard shell kayak can. In fact, there is no need for that. Meeting all demands on a proper whitewater kayak, the JUMP can be inflated to 0.3 bar.

AMIGO The AMIGO inflatable is a low cost, 1 and 2 seater quality kayak of symmetrical shape, and suitable for exploring lakes, narrow water ways, rivers, use for light white-water grade and coastal waters. The AMIGO comes standard equipped with 6 brackets to accept backrests. For that reason it can be deployed as a one- or two-seater kayak. HOLIDAY The HOLIDAY is the ideal boat for exploring rivers, lakes and coastal waters. • The bottom is inured to grounding, and thanks to little draught it is able to operate in shallow waters. • The high freeboard aspect renders the boat stable and wards off spray. • Bow and stern are reinforced by strong plastic rail. • There is luggage stowage below decks at the bow and stern. • The narrow inflated corrugate bottom tubes are comfortable to sit and to lie back on. They ensure a low centre of gravity position to safeguard against capsize. • Anatomically shaped backrests continuously adjust to the varying and changing body postures. • The stern incorporates a bracket to accept the mechanism for foot-pedal steering.

FUN FUN is the particularly cost effective low price version of the HOLIDAY. It differs from the latter by: • alternative boat-skin • shorter overall length • no stern reinforcement strake • no foot brace bar • no bow to stern safety-and carrying-line and carry handles • lower operation pressure Corresponds to ISO-EN 6185 in parts and entails a limited range of accessories only.

HOLIDAY 2 + 3 • Bow and stern handles of the HOLIDAY deluxe models allow easy carrying of the boat over land, and convenient launching. • Along the deck running bow to stern saf etyand carrying lines enable easy carrying over rough terrain, and provide a practical line to grab, in the event of capsize. • There are 5 adjustable footrest-bracket positions for the occupants of the boat. XR TREKKING The legendary XR TREKKING was the first inflatable canadian canoe designed lightweight, compact and suitable to be taken as luggage on air travel. It was already in production over 30 years ago by the METZELER company. Its distribution was later taken over by the BIG PACK outdoor specialists. In 1998 the XR TREKKING boating programme was continued by GRABNER, to customary GRABNER quality standard. Today boats still share the shape of the first original XR, there have since been considerable detail improvements though. The XR TREKKING is of relatively flat build, hence hardly susceptible to wind. High aspect bow and stern offer excellent riding characteristics and a balanced measure of directional stability and sinuous agility. The new XR TREKKING is a unique boat which can be used in a two-fold manner: â&#x20AC;˘ as a kayak, with seat and double blade paddle â&#x20AC;˘ as a canadien canoe, with seat board and single blade paddles (or double blade paddle). That makes the boat unbelievably versatile, ideal for exploring lakes, rivers, white-water and even coastal waters. 15 backrest-seat adjustments permits the craft to be used as single, double- or even three seater boat (i.e. for parents with an infant). The seating position can be set precisely to suit leg comfort of the canoeists, hence it is easy to trim the boat exactly and relative to load. For those who were in doubt, whether doubleor single blade paddling is more suitable for them, the XR TREKKING is the best choice offering greatest satisfaction. XR TREKKING as kayak The perfect solution for those who like to sit inside the boat and prefer double bladed paddles. Deep located seats lower the centre of gravity, which in turn render the boat highly 32

There are 2 seat options available: • Folding seat (x) - comfortable and compact • High-pressure seat (x) - anatomically shaped, fully adjustable from soft to hard, small packing dimension, made from original boat skin.

Both seat types can be employed for single, double and treble seat application. Back-rest inclination is adjustable via 2 straps. XR TREKKING as Canadian-canoe Included as standard is the supply of 2 seat boards, rendering the craft fully suitable for white-water use, as well as for calm water canoeing, seated or kneeling. Inclination of the seat boards is fully adjustable. In the event of a capsize the boards flip upwards automatically. The boards may, if so desired be set flat for the best and most comfortable seating position. Opting for the combination paddle (page 70 fig. 5) allows double- as well as single paddle canoeing. Additional features • Symmetric bow- and stern decks offer ideal luggage stowage facilities. • A carrying-handle fore and aft is convenient for launching and landing the boat. • 8 eyelets each at the bow and stern section allow secure and capsize proof strapping of luggage to the deck. • The drain-valve position offers the option of 8 punched drain-holes. There is no need for these, if the boat is predominantly used in calm waters. They are recommended for white-water application, because they constantly suck water out of the bilge. Exploring the water-ways as one group consisting of several people is becoming increasingly popular. For a group of friends, club-members or family outings, or even exploration tours organised by a boat-hire company. The ADVENTURE TEAM is the boat best suited for these occasions. It is the enlarged version of the ADVENTURE, well proven, easy to transport. Configuration • 6 conveniently placed carrying handles plus 2 x 2 bow and stern carrying belts for easy carrying on land. • High freeboard of the hull comprising 3 inflatable corrugated tubes protects against side wash, and enables canoeists seating side by side Variation 1 - as light boat Equipped with 6 inflated seatrolls the TEAM becomes, relative to its size, a real “lightweight” The rolls are secured to the inside of the hull by means of straps. That enhances stability and qualifies for white-water exploration up to grade 3. It has better riding qualities, runs faster than a rafting boat, and it responds well to steering by paddle. Because of upright seating in the boat, riding and paddle actions become more comfortable and require less effort. The entire boat inclusive of the 6 seatrolls, pumps and various small items, fits conveniently into a 120 x 60 x 35 cm size carry-bag, small enough to fit into a car. Variation 2 - as a compact boat Fitted out to include insert flooring and 6 marine grade ply-wood seatboards, the TEAM becomes incredibly rigid, stable and comfortable. Preparing for longer and enduring trips, luggage may be stowed below the seats. The wooden floor permits the crew to step on wearing their heavy footwear. All fits into 3 pack-sacks, one each for the hull, wooden floor, and the seatboards.

RANGER There are many types of boats on the market, most of them designed and suited for a specific task only. Many peop le however want their boats to be fit for various uses, as they may fancy, this today and that tomorrow. If storage of the boat at home, and launching at different places on changing occasion is a requirement, one automatically comes across the RANGER. The RANGER is constructed as one inflatable body without a stiffened transom panel. That results in a sensational packing measurement of only 80 x 70 x 20 cm, the smallest flatpack boat of this performance class.

• Padded seat-boards pouches: To cushion the seated area, and for secure and space saving stowage of utensils below the seatboards. • Rowlocks: When used for rowing, the rowlocks can be mounted to the eyelet strips. The position for forward or rear seating can be selected individually to suit body size.

• Rubbing strakes all-round the hull sides protect against damage of the boat. • Two carrying lines, one on each side feeding each through 4 D-rings, 2 strong carrying handles at the stern, and one at the bow, allow for comfortable carrying ashore. • 1 to 3 seat-boards can be positioned to suit and to be fastened to any of the 30 eyelets of the lips inside the boat on both sides. The eyelets also serve as fixing points for the sailing-rig, sun-awning and boat-ladder • The upper boat skin of the HOBBY is of red safety colour. Red better reflects the suns rays and heat, thus preventing excessive expansion and pressure of the air inside the tubes. The underside of the boat is made of black rubber, which is more resilient and protects against mechanical damage. • Small flat-pack dimensions of 120 x 55 x 20 cm enable the HOBBY to be taken as luggage in a medium size car.

INVADER Rafting is a rather turbulent matter of bumping and scraping, and being subjected to the force of tons of water. A rapid-function self-bailing facility, extreme stability, external force resisting properties, and features that warrant ultimate safety for the crew, those are paramount prerequisites. The GRABNER rafts when fully equipped provide maximum safety for crew and guides. Hydrodynamic shape GRABNER rafts feature an ascending round shape bow, and a stern line to match. That reduces below water line friction and enhances speed, thus requiring less paddle effort and energy. The symmetric shape allows to be move forward or reverse, bow and stern alike and as circumstances may demand. Inflatable bottom The bottom section vulcanised onto the boat provides additional buoyancy, the corrugated shape ensures optimised course holding qualities and safety. Excess air pressure reduces when the relief valve springs into action. Safety air-chambers Both hull tubes have integrated interior safety-bulkheads, which act like an inner tube. In the event of damage to the boat skin of the exterior tube, the boats journey can be continued in safety Self bailing Spray and water collecting in the bilge is continuously evacuated, and sucked out of the boat via the two drain valves on either side of the floor. RAFT tions of the outer tubes. That protects the boat against chafe and other damage caused upon boarding or under way, by contact with rocks. Bow and stern reinforcement So that the shape of the ascending bow and stern sections of the boat do not suffer damage when stacking several boats on top of each other, i.e. on a trailer, both ends have been given multi reinforcement properties. Multiple lower side protection The lower sections of a rafting boat, the sides and the corrugated bottom of which are particularly vulnerable to damage, have an additional sheath (consisting of 6 layers) vulcanised onto the boats skin. That provides effective protection. All-round carrying- + safety line All rafts have a provision of 8 triangular shaped stainless brackets moulded onto the outer tubes above the water line. The 16 mm dia. all-round carrying- and safety line supplied ties onto these brackets. Bow- + stern carrying + safety handle Bow and stern have a strong carrying- and safety-handle for fastening the boat line. Seat-rolls The inventory for each RAFT includes 2 in flatable seat-rolls. Apart from serving to „seat“ likely passengers, their main function is to massively stiffen the boat. Seat-roll quick fastening Practical stainless snap-buckles take care of quick fastening and removing the seat rolls. That ensures compact and secure fastening with no obstruction or risk of accidental re lease. Boat-skin The natural rubber boat skin is extremely tough and robust, resisting against chafe, and adverse affect of heat and cold. It repairs are easy with lasting effect.

Some places have no such regulations, where basic equipment suffices. In other countries, (i.e. Austria) specific safety equipment is mandatory. Certain such special equipment is available at extra charge.

The handholds, 4 in total, run through a webbing sleeve. They also represent convenient hand-holds for passengers seated on the seat-rolls. Entry arrow-markings So as to clearly indicate the hand hold positions for swimmers boarding the boat from the water, 4 arrows pointing to that position have been bonded in place. For lesser resistance but more efficiency it may be kept at slight angle. When moving over an obstruction or grounding in shallow water, the automatic release mechanism allows it to swing back without getting damaged. • Made for best aerodynamic performance, the main is cut from hi-tech transparent foil laminate material, and stiffened by 7 GRP sail battens. • The furling foresail enables adjustment to prevailing and changing wind conditions. By means of furling gear roller, sheets and furling line, the foresail can instantly be reduced and rolled out, and set to different sizes as a Genoa, working- or storm jib. The foresail is made of hard wearing Dacron material, with a large integrated clear view screen for forward vision. The jib sheets are fair lead fed to facilitate single hand sailing with ease. • The luff tensioner fastens to a cleat on the mast. • Main- and jib halyards are made of nonestretch braided Aramid, for clamp belay at the lower mast section.

3-D Bow shapes HAPPY CAT LIGHT and HAPPY CAT VISION incorporate 3 dimensional bow shapes. That slices head-on waves more effectively, reduces bow wash, spray and offers more speed over any given wind. • A heat-sealed dry-bag offering 56 litre of stowage is fastened to the fore-deck by means of 4 straps. There is space for two bags length-side or one transverse. • The seat cushions provide lasting seating comfort. They can be inflated to suit, from soft to firm. And make comfortable head pillows too, or provide important buoyancy in the event of man overboard, and capsize. Made from boat skin, with safety air-valve and fastening straps. 110 x 25 x 25 cm, 1.3 kg ea. • Whilst sailing, the long tiller-extension 120 cm serves to steer, even from trapeze position. • An engine bracket can be fitted to the rear trampoline frame section, to suit electric or fuel driven outboard engines up to 6 hp up to 30 kg, between float and rudder, or center position instead of the rudder. Made of marine ply 2.5 kg, with 2 stainless wing nut bolts. The installation requires 2 holes to be drilled.

SEGELN - SAILING • A battery holding bracket, for bolting to the rear frame of the trampoline. 43 x 5 x 20.5 cm, 0.8 kg, for stowing a battery. Alternatively it suits storage of provisions etc. Required is a battery box. • 4 electic- and 2 fueldriven outboard engines are recommended for use: Minn Kota 30, 40; Torqeedo 503, 1003; Honda 2, 3; Suzuki DF5 long shaft (or other makes). • The boat-trolley wide for easy transportation ashore and launching. Load capacity 100 kg, 70 x 52 x 25 cm; 5,7 kg • Those, who are keen on basking in the sun, welcome the sun-awnings shade. Suitable anchor, and bathing-ladder would complement the bathing plattform. • The tarpaulin protects the boat whilst laid up or during transportation, against the effects of the sun, becoming soiled, and against theft of sailing equipment.

NEW - GENNAKER As from 2011 there is a gennaker available for the HAPPY CAT VISION. This asymmetric triangle shape light cloth sail enhances speed by approximately 30 % whilst sailing broad reach, to forward of the beam. It comprises 11 m2 sail area, halyard, sheets, mast-sleeve, blocks and pulleys. For attachment to the HAPPY CAT VISION an eye-bracket is fitted to the mast as standard to suit the halyard, and a bowsprit integrated guide for the gennaker downhaul. A mast-sleeve needs to be riveted to the mast and 4 pulleys require to be shac kled to the trampoline-frame. The elasticated bow-deck pouch is suited for stowage of the gennacker when not in use.

Universal pack-bags In preparation for easier completion of the packing process, boat and accessories are laid into the bags. They are held together by means of support straps. During that process any of the air remaining in the boats tubes squeezes out. Thereafter the bags side and end panels can be flapped over and closed. Thatâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s it! Adjustment of the straps allows for the bag to fit around the contents exactly, hence the bag is never too small and never too baggy.

GRABNER TROLLEY With the wheel-barrow-trolley, the boat will not be carried, but simply pulled behind on 2 wheels. In this manner even a boat of volume and inclusive of accessories makes light transport: from the home to the car, to the station, air-port check-in or launching slip way. STEERING DEVICES + CONTAINER With a kayak it is not always easy, keeping a straight course. Specifically that applies to side wind, strong waves, drift and water turbulence. A boat should always be highly manoeuvrable, to change direction, to give way, to come ashore, and all must function swift and well. Foot-pedal steering is a great help. Rudder and foot-pedal steering keep the boat on course and enable change of direction. When not needed, the rudder can easily be lifted out of the water. (not so with the steering of FUN)

Whether water from swell, white-water or rain, spraycovers keep canoeists and their luggage fairly dry. Spraycovers also provide ideal protection against the cold during the cooler seasons, or prevailing temperatures of the cool northern climes. They are made of water proof sheathed material, and feature ring shape cockpit-hatches with integrated white-water aprons. They fasten by means of overlapping length of the apron with elastic-cord and safety lugs. Fixing apertures for the spraycover to the boat suit each type of boat individually. Special-totype cut gaps in the material (steering lines, carrying handles, D-rings) must, depending on application, be fitted to suit. 82 82

Spraycover fixation For the EXPLORER 1, EXPLORER 2, RIVER STAR the fixation points are bonded to the boat as standard, hence the spray-cover can be used immediately and requires no preparatory action. SAFETY FLOATS - STABILISING FINS If tilt stability of a GRABNER boat is felt insufficient, the SAFETY FLOATS offer optimal safety. SAFETY FLOATS convert even kayaks into craft that hardly capsize. The 2 outside mounted floats increase buoyancy and reduce the danger of toppeling over. None swimmers, the elderly and people looking for utmost safety will, as far as possible, be safe against capsize. SAFETY FLOATS provide the feeling that boating can be enjoyed without fear. The slim, and on both end narrowing points of the floats produce very little resistance when paddling. They are made from original boatskin material and have each a flush fitting safety air-valve. The floats are attached to the sides of the boat by means of forward and rear quick-release fasteners, and intermediary tensioning straps. It requires for 6 eyebrackets each to be bonded to both sides of the boat. DRIVE SAILS Introduced on popular demand, there is now a simple drive sail available in parallel to the tried and tested trimaran sails that have been around for years. Rapid and and easy to fit, it takes only a few minutes to rig each of the 3 different boat models. It is a most suitable sail for running downwind, reaching and free windward sailing. Setting of the sail, at optimised angles to the wind, by means of sheets fitted to the port and starboard ends of the spreader beam. Windward tacking however is not possible. The sail, made from lightweight spinnaker cloth is tailored to suit the short length mast, yet to catch and efficiently capitalise on the area most exposed to the wind. 2 clear view screens arranged aslant offer uninhibited forward vision for short as well as tall persons. Fixing points require no bonding of additional brackets.

TRIMARAN SAILING RIGS for Kayak In contrast to driving sail rigs that allow downwind- and reach-, but not windward sailing, trimaran rigs enable sailing the full compliment of courses, including close hauled and tacking. Suitably dimensioned jib and mainsail ad up to a total of 4 m2 sail area, allowing remarkable sailing speeds. Beamy outriggers provide adequate protection against capsize for even narrow boats. That is a distinct advantage for novices to sailing, or the not so experienced sailor; because safety is of paramount importance. Infinite adjustable leeboards are attached to the outrigger structure and allow setting to any angle from straight down to horizontal, convenient for embarking ashore. The clear view screen in the foresail is suitably positioned to provide effectual forward vision on all sail settings. It takes the slightest of breeze only to get the boat moving, and lively sailing is experienced up to wind force 3.

ATTENTION: Sail areas of fore- and mainsail are dimensioned to suit the permissible wind force. Those dimensions must not be increased, for reasons of risk of accident and damage, when exposed to unexpected strong winds and squalls.

MINN KOTA electric boat motors Electric outboard motors are absolutely silent, produce no exhaust gases and cause no unnecessary waves. Of course, they are not as lively as fuel driven engines. They are sufficient though for leisurely motion. Fuel propelled engines are restricted entirely or at certain times from operation on some waters. Those waters are open though, only for the use of electric motors. The energy supply comes from a special boat-battery, designed for gradual but continuous discharge. An ordinary car battery is not suited. Depending on speed-setting, a battery charge suffices for several hours of operation.

TORQEEDO Electric-outboard motor Torqeedo electric-outboard motors have their power supplied from a hi-tech-Lithium battery power-pack-module linked to the motor direct at the head. That eliminates the need to carry a heavy remote acid- or gel-battery and cumbersome cabling. That also reduces weight considerably. With regard to torque, grade of efficiency, output and volume, those new motors set entirely new standards. The streamline- and hydro-technology shaped shaft, and variable pitch propeller, ensure utmost performance. Infinite variable forward- and reverse speed control by means of tiller integrated twist throttle. Unwanted or accidental operation is prevented by an on- and off switch. TORQEEDO Ultralight 403 Stern-electric-motor / Stern-motor bracket The new Torqeedo stern-drive-motor suits boats with capsize resisting properties of the series, HOLIDAY, EXPLORER, RIVERSTAR and ADVENTURE. Steering control of the motor on canoes by means of 2 foot pedals mounted to the foot brace bar, except the ADVENTURE, which has 2 manual pull hand les mounted to the midship seat-board, where the electronic control unit, fitts between floor and side tube, providing a throttle lever for infinite adjustable speed control. There is a magnetic on and off switch. The unit incorporates a digital display for information on in put, battery state, residual running time, and speed. A GPS, integrated into the power pack provides precise speed data. There is an upand down-haul line for tilted lowering and lifting of the drive unit, and for arresting the line to prevent tilt when reversing.

TORQEEDO Stern-motor-mounting To fit the Torqeedo stern-motor to a GRAB NER boat, a respective stern-mount bracket is needed. With the HOLIDAY, EXPLORER, RIVERSTAR it can be attached and secured by a pintle direct to the already existing stern bracket (standard supply). Range of use

For babies and children. Buoyancy aids for learning to swim should support and ease the learning to swim process for persons (in particular children). They should provide buoyant support to the user in the water, and enable him to retain correct body swimposture.

For swimmers in waters where assistance is relative quick at hand. It is not a life-jacket! It is not safe against unconsciousness! Available for persons as from 30 kg bodyweight. Minimum lift-buoyancy for an average adult is 50 N.

Suitable for children and adults, for inshore waters, and waters relatively protected and calm. Limited protection against unconsci ousness provided (subject to type of clothing). Minimum lift-buoyancy for an average adult 100 N.

Suitable for children and adults, for coastal waters. Protection against unconsciousness is provided, when wearing light weather pro tective clothing. Minimum lift-buoyancy for an average adult 150 N.

Buoyancy-aid Type 50 - protect as uplift agent against submerging. Protection against unconsciousness is not provided. When conscious, a user may keep mouth and nose above water by respective balance maintaining body motion. For better freedom of movement, some types of sport favour buoyancyaids without collar.

Life-jacket Typ 100 - firmly surrounds, and holds the body in correct position, so that mouth and nose are kept above water, even when the person is exhausted or unconscious. The ability to roll the body into a unconscious safe position is limited. Ability to roll-over very much depends on clothing worn.

Learning to swim-aids provide a correct measure of buoyancy to support children in the water and to prevent “sinking” under water. Learning to swim-aids though are no buoyancy aids or life-jackets and may only be used under qualified expert supervision!

Life-jacket Typ 150 - firmly surrounds, and holds the body in correct position, so that mouth and nose are kept above water, even when the person is exhausted or unconscious. Solid or inflatable?

Drowning is the most common accidental cause of death among small children. For that reason it is of paramount importance to protect children adequately. On board a boat, or at the beach, children are particularly vulnerable, because they can not recognise danger correctly. Attention diverted by play, they do not think of the danger connected with water. Holiday is for relaxation and to enjoy the moment. Prevention is the key, but not elusion by using cheap inflatable plastic objects, which by a stab or loss of the air-valve stopper collapse and sink. A proper children´s life-jacket is the best precaution! High value solid foam life-jackets only offer children real protection. That material never looses buoyancy. TEST If you want to be absolutely sure, that the boat you have in mind is the right choice, there is the opportunity of „testing before buying“. Since a boat is no product that can be purchased readily available from the shop around the corner, such test opportunities are rare.

INTENSIVE-BOAT-TESTING EVENTS During the GRABNER organised intensiveboat-testing events, you can come to the test location without prior notification and test the entire range of boats, entirely free of charge, and without obligation. Not only that there is one of each type boat waiting for you, there are several of each type with varying accessory outfit, i.e. different electric motors, fuel driven-outboard engines, and sailing rigs, as well as trimaran kits and special accessories. The days intensive-boat-testing take place at Wallsee/Danube, lower Austria.
