ADVANTAGE - Safety and riding comfort Riding qualities of a boat are predominantly determined by the shape and stiffness of the hull. The better shaped, the harder and rigid, the better is the boats stability and performance.

A GRABNER inflatable boat incorporates maximum safety, thus allowing you to enjoy the pleasures of boating much more. For example: • Because of the increased buoyancy provided by the crafts float chambers.

PRODUCTION METHODS GRABNER inflatable boats undergo a process of “heat-vulcanisation”, where sections of raw composition-rubber (without roughening) are glued together, and only the entire boat will undergo completion, by application of the pressure-heat-vulcanisation process. During that procedure the adhesive-cemented joints will merge to become one homogeneous unit. That ensures absolute air-tightness and rigidity. INFLATED BOTTOM All GRABNER inflatable boats (2) are provided with an inflatable-bottom. Only the section of an inflated bottom enables quick and easy assembly, as well as rapid deflation. At the same time it constitutes little weight and minimum pack volume. In addition, it provides extra buoyancy, is comfortable to sit on or to lie back, and most of all, due to elasticity it gives way when bumping the ground.

SAFETY GRABNER consider safety of their inflatable craft a matter of paramount importance. The robust and elastic boat-skin bounces and gives way when subjected to bumps of severe velocity. CANADIAN CANOE (XR TREKKING, Outside, INDIO, Adventure, Speed) A canoe too is well suited to white-water exploration and white-watercoursing. You knee or sit in a canoe and the weight of your body rests on a „seat-board“. It is propelled by single-bladed paddles or doubleblade paddles. A canoe is broader, hence particularly more safe against capzise. Furthermore a canoe offers additional storage space for luggage to be stowed and carried. ALL-ROUND (Ranger, FAMILY, HOBBY) An “all-round” boat in principle is suited for all sorts of applications. Its main use however will not be the use of water-way exploration or white-water kayaking, but rowing, moving under motor, or sailing. When buying a boat, make sure it comes with GRABNER original accessories. Accessories inclusive as standard GRABNER inflatable boats come complete with all the equipment needed to get under way. Accessory-specials over and above are not contained in the basic price. The reason for that is, that different boat owners have entirely different requirements when it comes to the items they want for their boat. On the other hand, they may already have certain items of equipment. Why dispose of old and buy new? Accessory-sets The accessory sets contain those items, which make up the most popular purchases. • Standard accessory sets appertain to basic equipment. • Professional accessory sets include items for professional applications. Please note, that accessory sets offer considerable savings in comparison to individually purchased parts. Note: To accept certain fittings, some ac cessories require patches to be glued to the boat skin. We can already take care of that at our factory. Small pack volume and low weight make easy stowage and transport by camper-mobile, bus or rail, and even by motorbike. It is well suited too for all those looking for maximum inside beam. The TRAMPER incorporates properties that render them quite different from other models: • Light weight and small transport volume by doing away with everything not absolutely needed. • Largest inside beam compared to other models, therefore adequately wide for everyone to step in and off in comfort. • Unbeatable stability, appreciated by children and seniors alike as a particularly safe boat. • Excellent straight run and course holding qualities offer paddle enjoyment even for those with little or no experience. • The new kayak seats grant high seating comfort. The legendary XR TREKKING was the first inflatable canadian canoe designed lightweight, compact and suitable to be taken as luggage on air travel. It was already in production over 30 years ago by the METZELER company. Its distribution was later taken over by the BIG PACK outdoor specialists. In 1998 the XR TREKKING boating programme was continued by GRABNER, to customary GRABNER quality standard. XR TREKKING as Canadian-canoe Included as standard is the supply of 2 seat boards, rendering the craft fully suitable for white-water use, as well as for calm water canoeing, seated or kneeling. Inclination of the seat boards is fully adjustable. In the event of a capsize the boards flip upwards automatically. The boards may, if so desired be set flat for the best and most comfortable seating position. Opting for the combination paddle (page 72 fig. 5) allows double- as well as single paddle canoeing. Additional features • Symmetric bow- and stern decks offer ideal luggage stowage facilities. • A carrying-handle fore and aft is convenient for launching and landing the boat. • 8 eyelets each at the bow and stern section allow secure and capsize proof strapping of luggage to the deck. • The drain-valve position offers the option of 8 punched drain-holes. There is no need for these, if the boat is predominantly used in calm waters. They are recommended for white-water application, because they constantly suck water out of the bilge. INDIO Going by the name, INDIO points to an Indian-style canoe, the appearance of which

resembles

that

the

larger

ADVENTURE models. The INDIO however is somewhat shorter, of lighter weight, and smaller packing dimensions. In spite of that, the space provision is adequate for up to 3 persons, or 2 adults and 2 small children. It is ideal for paddling on lakes, rivers and light white-water. • The longish Canadian-canoe shape offers a long water line for optimised straightcourse holding properties, without the need for constant course corrections. In addition, the pronounced corrugated mid-bottom bulge enhances that property. • High side-walls provide ample space for payload, shield against wash, and protect small children from falling overboard. • Brackets for fitting 3 seat-boards is standard. (Midship seat-board is not included in standard supply) • Carrying handle are fitted to bow and stern. • Guying, (bow and stern straps) additionally serves to secure gear and luggage. • Upon request, drain-sump can be fitted into drain valves (suits frequent whitewater deployment) (Drain valve with closefacility = optional extra). • Whereas the black colour underside intends to be inconspicuous, the signal red colour topside is well visible, adding to security. • High capsize resistance, plus propulsion by single and double paddle, but also by electric- or fuel driven motor render the INDIO a highly stable, universal, and low cost family friendly craft.

Configuration • 6 conveniently placed carrying handles plus 2 x 2 bow and stern carrying belts for easy carrying on land. • High freeboard of the hull comprising 3 inflatable corrugated tubes protects against side wash, and enables canoeists seating side by side Variation 1 - as light boat Equipped with 6 inflated seatrolls the TEAM becomes, relative to its size, a real “lightweight” The rolls are secured to the inside of the hull by means of straps. That enhances stability and qualifies for white-water exploration up to grade 3. It has better riding qualities, runs faster than a rafting boat, and it responds well to steering by paddle. Be cause of upright seating in the boat, riding and paddle actions become more comfortable and require less effort. The entire boat inclusive of the 6 seatrolls, pumps and various small items, fits conveniently into a 120 x 60 x 35 cm size carry-bag, small enough to fit into a car. Variation 2 - as a compact boat Fitted out to include insert flooring and 6 marine grade ply-wood seatboards, the TEAM becomes incredibly rigid, stable and comfortable. RANGER There are many types of boats on the market, most of them designed and suited for a specific task only. Many peop le however want their boats to be fit for various uses, as they may fancy, this today and that tomorrow. If storage of the boat at home, and launching at different places on changing occasion is a requirement, one automatically comes across the RANGER. The RANGER is constructed as one inflatable body without a stiffened transom panel. That results in a sensational packing measurement of only 80 x 70 x 20 cm, the smallest flatpack boat of this performance class.

Unbelievably versatile ... .. as a rowing boat: With non-slip seatboards and varying and adjustable seatboard and rowlock positions for comfortable rowing. .. as an electric power propelled motorboat: The RANGER makes an ideal electric power boat. The boats cleverly designed shape reduces friction and resistance on the water. • Rowlocks: When used for rowing, the rowlocks can be mounted to the eyelet strips. The position for forward or rear seating can be selected individually to suit body size.

• Two carrying lines, one on each side feeding each through 4 D-rings, 2 strong carrying handles at the stern, and one at the bow, allow for comfortable carrying ashore. • 1 to 3 seat-boards can be positioned to suit and to be fastened to any of the 30 eyelets of the lips inside the boat on both sides. The information is based on experience that was recorded over a longer period of time. The maximum speeds were measured at the wind forces noted, but without corresponding sea forces. When using the gennaker, the sailing speeds increases by about 30% at wind speed and beam reach.

More than 50 years of experience The history of the HAPPY CAT goes back to the 1960s of the past century. GRABNER’s predecessor SEMPERIT already manufactured and sold globally portable catamarans back then. At GRABNER, the boat was re christened as HAPPY CAT and has been permanently further developed since. An in creasing amount of supplements resulted in an increase of the weight and price. In 2005

the HAPPY CAT became about 40% lighter, dismountable to an even smaller size and was given several innovations. Since 2008 it was been fitted with sensational 3D floats (VISI ON). In 2009 the RACING model was given laminate racing sails, in 2011 another innovative quantum leap followed with the VISION and in 2012 the super light ULTRALIGHT celebrates its world premier.

SEGELN - SAILING 2013 the 1st HAPPY CAT meeting took place at Ebensee, Lake Traunsee in Austria. 46 HAPPY CATS from 4 nations gathered for the event. Apart from sailing in company, they participated in set round course sailing and timing under regatta condition, exchanging views and experience on enhanced sailing techniques amongst each other and with the factory engineers and managerial staff in a relaxed atmosphere.

The participants where elated and promptly elected to hold another HAPPY CAT meet in 2014 with a similar full and eventful programme:

The Austrian Philipp Benda set his mind on crossing the Mediterranean with a dismountable portable catamaran. A mad idea, because after all this is a distance of 1,000 km and means sailing day and night. Together with his friend Christian Redl, as well as luggage, food and 120 kg of drinking water, the two set off in Albissola near Genua.

The human demands were huge. 8 days and nights on 4 m2, permanent wet weather, no toilet, aggressive sun, hardly any sleep and many dangerous situations drained on the stamina. The meeting with sperm whales, dolphins and manta rays was, however, a pleasant change. The achievement is remarkable. After all, the two sailed 700 km entirely on the open sea.

From Genua to Tunis 700 km on the open sea

With a stiff breeze, the journey went in the direction of the Tyrrhenian Islands for 3 days, In the area of Corsica-Sardinia, there were days of total calm. Due to time pressure, the route of the islands therefore had to be completed by airplane. Here, the ability to dismount the HAPPY CAT proved to be a huge advantage. From Cagliari, the two sailed at winds of 4-5, gales of up to 7 Beaufort and up to 6 metre high waves to the target in Hammamet, Tunisia.

As a rule, a HAPPY CAT is not made for such an extreme undertaking. Thanks to the ability to dismantle the dinghy, the parts are not as solid and stiff as with heavy catamarans. The fact that the HAPPY CAT VISION lasted this extreme journey without any problems is the best proof of its high quality. If a boat withstands such extreme demands, it will certainly be sufficient for hobby sportsmen.

Universal pack-bags

In preparation for easier completion of the packing process, boat and accessories are laid into the bags. They are held together by means of support straps. During that process any of the air remaining in the boats tubes squeezes out. Thereafter the bags side and end panels can be flapped over and closed. Thatâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s it! Adjustment of the straps allows for the bag to fit around the contents exactly, hence the bag is never too small and never too baggy. STEERING DEVICES + CONTAINER With a kayak it is not always easy, keeping a straight course. Specifically that applies to side wind, strong waves, drift and water turbulence. A boat should always be highly manoeuvrable, to change direction, to give way, to come ashore, and all must function swift and well. Foot-pedal steering is a great help. Rudder and foot-pedal steering keep the boat on course and enable change of direction. When not needed, the rudder can easily be lifted out of the water.

SEATS UNIVERSAL BOAT-SEATS The comfort seat and the folding seat are small flat-pack folding seats with back-rests. They ensure highest seating comfort with maximum back support, and paddling over long stretches in comfort, without tiring. SPRAYCOVERS Whether water from swell, white-water or rain, spraycovers keep canoeists and their luggage fairly dry. Spraycovers also provide ideal protection against the cold during the cooler seasons, or prevailing temperatures of the cool northern climes.

They are made of water proof sheathed material, and feature ring shape cockpit-hatches with integrated white-water aprons. They fasten by means of overlapping length of the apron with elastic-cord and safety lugs. Fixing apertures for the spraycover to the boat suit each type of boat individually. Spe cial-to-type cut gaps in the material (steering lines, carrying handles, D-rings) must, depending on application, be fitted to suit. OUTRIGGER With loads bearing on one side, long and narrow boats tend to capsize, i.e. If all people on board lean over to one side. That be the case when boarding after a swim or using an outboard engine side-mount. Outriggers are ideal for those preferring a narrow boat, insisting on absolute stability against capsize. e.g. when small children are on board, or for swimming and fishing excursions, using a side-mount electric motor, or fuel driven engine, or simply to take away any anxiety from people aboard.

It is the leverage property of a relatively small float, which has such stabilising effect on a narrow boat, that capsize becomes almost impossible. The floats glide on the water and cause little resistance.

SAFETY FLOATS - STABILISING FINS If tilt stability of a GRABNER boat is felt insufficient, the SAFETY FLOATS offer optimal safety. SAFETY FLOATS convert even kayaks into craft that hardly capsize. The 2 outside mounted floats increase buoyancy and reduce the danger of toppeling over. None swimmers, the elderly and people looking for utmost safety will, as far as possible, be safe against capsize. SAFETY FLOATS provide the feeling that boating can be enjoyed without fear. The slim, and on both end narrowing points of the floats produce very little resistance when paddling. They are made from original boatskin material and have each a flush fitting safety air-valve. The floats are attached to the sides of the boat by means of forward and rear quick-release fasteners, and intermediary tensioning straps. It requires for 6 eyebrackets each to be bonded to both sides of the boat. They are included in the supply with the floats, together with adhesive, sand paper and instructions for easy „do it yourself“ attention.

Newcomers, older canoeists and those with little experience find it difficult sometimes, to keep a straight course (with a boat that has no steering). The stabilising fin enhances straight directional course holding of narrow boats, and reduces lurching and veering, when paddling without a rudder. DRIVE SAILS Introduced on popular demand, there is now a simple drive sail available in parallel to the tried and tested trimaran sails that have been around for years. Rapid and and easy to fit, it takes only a few minutes to rig each of the 3 different boat models. It is a most suitable sail for running downwind, reaching and free windward sailing. Setting of the sail, at optimised angles to the wind, by means of sheets fitted to the port and starboard ends of the spreader beam. Windward tacking however is not possible. The sail, made from lightweight spinnaker cloth is tailored to suit the short length mast, yet to catch and efficiently capitalise on the area most exposed to the wind. 1 clear view screens arranged aslant offer uninhibited forward vision for short as well as tall persons. Fixing points require no bonding of additional brackets.

TRIMARAN SAILING RIGS for Kayak In contrast to driving sail rigs that allow downwind- and reach-, but not windward sailing, trimaran rigs enable sailing the full compliment of courses, including close hauled and tacking. Suitably dimensioned jib and mainsail ad up to a total of 4 m2 sail area, allowing remarkable sailing speeds. Beamy outriggers provide adequate protection against capsize for even narrow boats. That is a distinct advantage for novices to sailing, or the not so experienced sailor; because safety is of paramount importance. Infinite adjustable leeboards are attached to the outrigger structure and allow setting to any angle from straight down to horizontal, convenient for embarking ashore. The clear view screen in the foresail is suitably positioned to provide effectual forward vision on all sail settings. It takes the slightest of breeze only to get the boat moving, and lively sailing is experienced up to wind force 3.

ATTENTION: Sail areas of fore- and mainsail are dimensioned to suit the permissible wind force. Those dimensions must not be increased, for reasons of risk of accident and damage, when exposed to unexpected strong winds and squalls.

MINN KOTA electric boat motors Electric outboard motors are absolutely silent, produce no exhaust gases and cause no unnecessary waves. Of course, they are not as lively as fuel driven engines. They are sufficient though for leisurely motion. Fuel propelled engines are restricted entirely or at certain times from operation on some waters. Those waters are open though, only for the use of electric motors. The energy supply comes from a special boat-battery, designed for gradual but continuous discharge. An ordinary car battery is not suited. Depending on speed-setting, a battery charge suffices for several hours of operation.

TORQEEDO Electric-outboard motor Torqeedo electric-outboard motors have their power supplied from a hi-tech-Lithium battery power-pack-module linked to the motor direct at the head. That eliminates the need to carry a heavy remote acid- or gel-battery and cumbersome cabling. That also reduces weight considerably. With regard to torque, grade of efficiency, output and volume, those new motors set entirely new standards. The streamline- and hydro-technology shaped shaft, and variable pitch propeller, ensure utmost performance. Infinite variable forward- and reverse speed control by means of tiller integrated twist throttle. Unwanted or accidental operation is prevented by an on- and off switch. An interesting fact is, that the motor with an actual power output of 3 Hp of a combustion engine, provides distinct more thrust, yet the drive unit weighs 0.5 kg only. Torqeedo electric-outboard motors have over conventional electric-outboard motors twice as high effiency. That means that the same output power requires half the energy.

Steering control of the motor on canoes by means of 2 foot pedals mounted to the foot brace bar, except the ADVENTURE, which has 2 manual pull handles mounted on the seat-board fittings. The new motor brackets have the advantage of dispensing with elaborate outriggers, that the centre of rotation is located close to the stern of the boat, and that when landing, the motor can be raised by means of a line. They should provide buoyant support to the user in the water, and enable him to retain correct body swimposture. Range of use

For swimmers in waters where assistance is relative quick at hand. It is not a life-jacket! It is not safe against unconsciousness! Available for persons as from 30 kg bodyweight. Minimum lift-buoyancy for an average adult is 50 N.

Suitable for children and adults, for inshore waters, and waters relatively protected and calm. Limited protection against unconsci ousness provided (subject to type of clothing). Minimum lift-buoyancy for an average adult 100 N.

Suitable for children and adults, for coastal waters. Protection against unconsciousness is provided, when wearing light weather pro tective clothing. Minimum lift-buoyancy for an average adult 150 N.

Life-jacket Typ 100 - firmly surrounds, and holds the body in correct position, so that mouth and nose are kept above water, even when the person is exhausted or unconscious. The ability to roll the body into a unconscious safe position is limited. Ability to roll-over very much depends on clothing worn.

Life-jacket Typ 150 - firmly surrounds, and holds the body in correct position, so that mouth and nose are kept above water, even when the person is exhausted or unconscious. Solid or inflatable?

Drowning is the most common accidental cause of death among small children. For that reason it is of paramount importance to protect children adequately. On board a boat, or at the beach, children are particularly vulnerable, because they can not recognise danger correctly. Attention diverted by play, they do not think of the danger connected with water. Holiday is for relaxation and to enjoy the moment. Prevention is the key, but not elusion by using cheap inflatable plastic objects, which by a stab or loss of the air-valve stopper collapse and sink. A proper children´s life-jacket is the best precaution! High value solid foam life-jackets only offer children real protection. That material never looses buoyancy. It offers additional insulation against cold. The buoyancy arrangement is very high, whilst the body central point of gravity remains very low. That ensures optimal body position in the water. The jackets exact body fitting property prevents “slipping” up ward.

Those working by the water, or involved in voluntary flood- or other emergency operations, must protect themselves against respective dangers.

When it comes to desire between solid material- and inflatable life-jackets, one should give a thought to the following:

Accidents easy happen when working in such environments. When falling in the water, being able to swim is of little help! Heavy clothing, or panicking cause death by drowning, to even the best of swimmers. There is particular risk to life if the body has been in the water for some time, suffering hypothermia and rapid loss of energy.

• Solid material life-jackets get their up-lift by inbuilt large cell buoyancy foam, thus the lift-up property never diminishes. Solid material life-jackets additionally offer protection against cold, they are at all times in a ready to use state, make no de mands, are durable and always available at affordable prices. Solid material vests are available as buoyancy swim-aids EN 393 and as life-jackets EN 395.

Workers engaged in activities, on boats, the fire-services, water / sewage treatment companies, power-stations, and the rescue services etc., when aboard barges or other types of floating vessels, or working at the shore, they need to protect themselves effectively against the dangers of drowning. The only effective protection against drowning is a life-jacket suitable for the application.

I do not live close to a place by the water, and I would like to take my boat with me during my spare time, holidays and when travelling. I travel predominantly by car, occasionally though by public transport and by air. I have a caravan / motor home. I have little space at home for storing a boat. I should like to engage in different activities with my boat, but not buy several boats to suit each activity. In the past I have used a folding kayak and now find the setting up of it and dismantling a job too cumbersome. Previously I had a large boat. Handling has become for me too arduous a task. TESTING BEFORE BUYING REGIONAL TESTING EVENTS Germany Those who are unable to attend the boat testing facility on 150 days of the year, and the boat-testing events during May, July, August at Haag/Wallsee, will be pleased to note, that the most popular boating types can be tried out in a number of regions in Germany. The difference to the boat testing facilities at Haag/Wallsee is, that not all boat types, nor motors and add-on sailing kits will be present. Competent GRABNER company staff though will be at regional test events, available for expert advice.

TESTING HAAG - WALLSEE

Right next to the GRABNER BOAT-WORLD showrooms at Haag, Lower Austria, a 1000 m2 lake has been built to suit boat testing of all kayaks, canadian-canoes and all-roundboats. Electric motors can be used as well.

To be held on 3 x 2 day per annum offering the opportunity for testing all boats on Friday afternoon and on Saturday. Kayaks, canadian canoes, at the new GRABNER Boat Test Lake at Haag, all-round-boats and catamarans and electric drives on the Danube at Wallsee No add-on sailing kits and motors.

For sailing however the lake is too small. For that reason catamarans continue to be tested at Wallsee, or at the the regional boat tests locations in Germany. Boats may be tested March to October during GRABNER BOAT-WORLD hours of business. The new testing lake enables boats to be tried out independent from fixed dates of the testing events. Accessories can simultaneously be inspected within the showrooms of the GRABNER BOAT-WORLD and experienced staff may be consulted on any unanswered questions.
