The child’s weight is considered by the regulation as the criteria serving as a basis for buoyancy per size. Therefore, we indicate the age as a guide only : it is imperative that the child tries on the lifejacket before purchase. Inflatable or traditional foam lifejacket ? For a very young child, a foam lifejacket has extra benefits : it is most welcome when your young crew wants to take a swim or play in the water around the boat. In addition, it comes as a nice protection shell as the child is “bundled up” and avoids some hard knocks thanks to the lifejacket.
